Biggest heartbreak on lost knife?

I had the same thing happen with a Mini-grip. It was the first (of many) wife (GF at the time) gave me. It was the yellow handled one with the sheepsfoot 154cm. We replaced it and i still have it but it doesn't feel the same.
Nope. And it never will.

The neat thing is this, you can build memories using the new knife. Did you wife replace it or did you?

She replaced it. She was a wilderness guide at the time and got a Benchmade discount which was awesome. I've been into knives for almost 20 years but have been on a 5 year break from buying and selling. There is a great knife shop where I live and she saw me oogling a knife earlier this year and then bought it for my birthday... Cat came back out of the bag. Ive been back in the addiction pretty hard all year.

Does anyone else go through those "phases" ?

The answer is a big YES!
We all go through those times.
I am scaling back but I know that my next step in knives is going to cost $$$$!

I have more knives than I need but it looks like my next step is a pricey fixed blade, CPK EDC 2.

Although, I do have a few folders that that have been at the top of my want list for quite a while.

I lost my Sere 2K once for 6 months or so. Could've sworn I lost it in Galveston. We went back looking several times, even asked the friend we were with, thought I had checked everywhere and it was gone for good. I was heartbroken for sure.

I dropped something in the car and went under the seat to find it. Came up with my long lost friend. :D

My wife lost her Kershaw Boa with the multicolor handle. That one’s gone for sure. Missed it ever since. If anybody has one or a lead on one please let me know.

The only knife that I have ever lost was a first production Benchmade 755 MPR. I was stripping wire on the tailgate of my truck and drove off with it sitting on the bumper. I still haven’t replaced that little guy

Well that just sent me down a rabbit hole. Ive been on a EDC fixed blade kick lately and I had to look up what CPK meant... It means I am already trying to find and justify one of those! Holy moly what a great looking knife, I want that with a scout carry sheath and then I'm SURE I can stop chasing the dragon.

Wait till you hold one, it just melts into your hand!

Your sure?

Did you look at their Field Knife?

Or their HDFK?

I recently attended a rather large political rally. It was only after having waited in line for about an hour and a-half and finally nearing the Secret Service checkpoint, that I remembered the carbon steel Opinel #7 in my pocket. Faced with separating from my wife in the huge crowd, taking the knife to the car, and waiting in line all over again, or having it taken from me, I reluctantly deposited it in a trash bin. I have many other more expensive knives, but none that I like any more than that little Opinel. It had developed a lovely patina, was a fantastic slicer, and obviously, went completely unnoticed in my pocket. I have feelers out, so perhaps Santa will bring me another.

My ex stole my basically irreplaceable, perfect specimen of a Spyderco Farid K2 when she found out I was seeing another woman. She refuses to give it back years later. I still get really upset when I think about it.

I lost a my very first one handed knife a Buck Crosslock Solitaire. I was extremely aggravated and whined about it here. To my surprise a Buck rep contacted me and sent me a snazzy new double Crosslock since they were no longer making the solitaire. A few months later another package arrived. He found a solitaire somewhere and sent me that too. I mean... I have purchased many expensive knives including several Bucks since then but I keep those two as a momentos of a stand up guy and company.

Lost or had stolen a really nice 5" clip point by Track Knives. Rosewood handle - really well made. It disappeared around Christmas time when I was 17 - 45 years ago and I still think about that knife.

My father owned some property in Orlando, FL that my Uncle acted as care taker. We had an orange grove, a rabbit farm, and a few rental houses on the property.
One summer I worked with my Uncle. I was about twelve (in 60's). Everyday we would pass this sign at the end of a driveway. The sign said "Randall Made Knives".
I was always bugging him to stop. One day we did and drove up the long drive through an Orange grove to the shop. My Uncle bought me a knife that day. I carried it on my hip in the sheath everyday I worked with him....all summer. School started back after labor day and that's when I lost track of it. We lived on a lake and I used to make things out of Cypress knees that I would cut up. I think I left it somewhere on the lakefront, but never found it.
I don't remember what model it was and didn't really learn of the importance of the Randall name in the knife world until much later in life. I wasn't that upset I lost it at the time....I was always losing stuff.
I have since driven back up that driveway, bought several Randall Made Knives over the years and they are safely tucked away.......probably for my Grandkids.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I was an intern at a firm one summer and went to a baseball game with some of the partners after work. I don't normally go to sports games so I didn't anticipate the metal detectors at the entrance (nor the "Star Wars" theme night, nor the yoga session on the 2nd level...). Rather than force my companions to walk 4 blocks to the car, then back, then wait in line for another half hour, I had no choice other than to drop my Knives of Alaska Folding Caper in D2 into a locked "surrender box" at the gate. I don't even like baseball but the internship led to a job offer so I suppose the sacrifice was worth it. Thank goodness I hadn't really discovered GEC at the time - no way I would forfeited one of those for that job.

I had a sebenza 25 micarta and a ZT 561 up and walk away.from my personal belongings while in the hospital for a few weeks back in '18... Man was I sour. Shit, I'm still sour.
Also had a Swiss champ SAK walk out of my glovebox around '05. I later found out the peckerhead who lifted it overdosed shortly thereafter. Karma is a bitch.. Makes me wonder what other heinous crap that kid did before his dirtnap.

Losing my Esee 4hm that was gifted to me. I eventually had it tricked out wit TKC scales and architect sheath. The thing is that it's never left home. I've looked everywhere for it and I just can't find it!
