Biggest heartbreak on lost knife?

Does anyone else go through those "phases" ?
You bet your SAK I do!
Check out the join date - It's wrong BTW - the real date was October 3rd, 1998. Spark had just finished the last touches of BF before he opened it & invited a few of us to stop by and check it out.
We were on the old www.recdotknives.com "blade chat".I should have been the first one to get here since I had the fastest connection (cable)(everyone else was on dial-up).
Spark gave me the wrong URL to find the place though...oh well..

Anyhow - yeah - I wandered away from the addiction for a while & have just come back to it recently.

It happens..

I had a sebenza 25 micarta and a ZT 561 up and walk away.from my personal belongings while in the hospital for a few weeks back in '18... Man was I sour. Shit, I'm still sour.
Also had a Swiss champ SAK walk out of my glovebox around '05. I later found out the peckerhead who lifted it overdosed shortly thereafter. Karma is a bitch.. Makes me wonder what other heinous crap that kid did before his dirtnap.

A guy I used to raft guide with (a member on BF too) lost a sebenza going through a rapid. I remember he pulled out a sebenza to cut something and i was new to knives but it looked familiar and I asked him, "Is that a Seb?" He looked up wide eyed and said he has carried a sebenza for 8 years and I was the first person that knew what it was. We were friends immediately. I am too afraid to take my nicer knives on the river.

A real OG! haha that is awesome. I wonder if 2020 has brought more people to the knife world (staying at home cooking and such) and brought people like us back into the fold. I'm blaming my wife because its fun to see her face when I buy a new knife and tell her its her fault for getting me back into it.

I have a policy of not carrying expensive knives which has paid off. I've only lost a Joker pointer that was inexpensive. I simply can't understand people who buy CRK @$400+ with a real risk of losing them. That's $400 down the drain!

Maybe. You can never tell what is going to happen. I still have my second knife, a very small Boker traditional that is probably 50 years old.

I don’t normally lose stuff, but I did today..brand new Farmer X. I’ve only had it for a couple days, and managed to lose it this morning scooping snow in my neighborhood. :(
That’s what I get for doing a good deed.
Oh no! that's a bummer but I find your karma with come around and find you.

I don't mind bringing expensive knives with me on most occasions (hiking, hunting, fishing and camping) but white water is one place that is too precarious to trust, you never know when you might be going for a swim. I almost lost a spyderco salt H1 after falling out of a boat and climbing back in, luckily found it on the bottom of the raft at the end of the trip. I'd mess myself if that was a CRK

I lost my Sere 2K once for 6 months or so. Could've sworn I lost it in Galveston. We went back looking several times, even asked the friend we were with, thought I had checked everywhere and it was gone for good. I was heartbroken for sure.

I dropped something in the car and went under the seat to find it. Came up with my long lost friend. :D

My wife lost her Kershaw Boa with the multicolor handle. That one’s gone for sure. Missed it ever since. If anybody has one or a lead on one please let me know.

Saw one of those going on Fleabay the other day, looking them up there's quite a few! Not sure what you paid but they seem grossly high as is the norm on there.

Lee D Lee D ,
That sucks!

As much as people complain about the heat treatment of Swiss Army knives, the steel itself seems to be very rust resistant. You might find your knife after the snow melts.

I know of a fire fighter that found his knife between buildings at the fire station. It only sat in the snow for about half the winter.
Not a problem at all with the knife.

I feel your pain. If I had a Farmer X, I would ship it to you.

Posted this on another lost knife thread also.
"I know the feeling, the panicked crazy feeling.
Bits to story - I made a good living, shy of 100k for last few years I worked. Started collecting but only actually touched a few knives. I've been disabled for last three years and the insignificant other couldn't deal with it, so I had to move in a short time frame, with no income. With that all being said...
I had just a few more boxes to move out into my enclosed trailer. Upon returning the next day around 10am to move rest out, I didn't see my knives boxes, two of them. The ex had in her mind that I wasn't out quick enough and had graciously helped me by taking my collection to work dumpster, that was emptied way before I arrived.
Sick to stomach isn't even enough to say how I felt. This was beginning of October 2020. I lost EVERYTHING in one fell swoop, homeless AND knifeless! Nothing like trying to survive in Northern Michigan woods, without a single blade to bushcraft with.
Glad those of you that "lost" your knives, eventually found them and those never found, may they rest in peace or rust as it may be."

I just read your post to my wife.
Her response was, “That’s just rude. You gotta give the person a chance to get their stuff together.”

I feel your pain. I am on my third marriage. If this one does not work, I’m done. I am not trying again.

But you're posting on the internet?

I call shenanigans.

You can call it whatever makes you sleep better at night. I shared MY story, like everyone before me, and I'm sure everyone after me will do.
Again, not asking for a handout or sympathy for my situation. This isn't "whos story is the best", its sharing your story with fellow knife lovers. This is just ridiculous I have to defend myself for something I shouldn't have to! Don't believe me, skip my post, pretty simple.

At least you found a keeper, third times the charm. At 47 years old, I'm not really looking for a lady anymore, I'm going to do my own thing when I get back on my feet.

Thank you SC, that’s kind of you, but I’m hoping that it turns up. My neighbors love me (who wouldn’t love the guy that scoops your sidewalk and driveway for free? Lol), and I explained that it was a gift, so they’ll definitely be looking out for it. Fingers crossed

discontinued yellow handle Rough Ryder 6 blade sowbelly stockman, that cannot be replaced. :(
(lost while riding my bicycle, nigh on 4.5 years ago now.)
RAT 1 with olive green handle. one of reasons I dislike clips so much.
(lost while riding my adult tricycle about 2.5 -3 years ago. :( )

Backtracking in both cases, didn't result in locating the knives. :(

Oh well. I hope whoever found them is enjoying them as much as I did. :)

I waited a long time between 2 and 3. Married the third time just over 11 years ago.

When I stopped looking for someone that matched a list of what I wanted and mentally changed my attitude to “what am I willing to overlook?” or “what is a deal breaker?, life got much easier. At that point things just fell into place.

The first year is hell. The second year can be on hell’s doorstep. After that you can take on anything the world throws at you.
