Biggest Knife pet peeve's?

Blade wobble for sure.
Knives with designs and/names that cry out Mall Ninja, Military Wannabe, or Tactifool.
Silly or obnoxious blade etches.
Death fetish crap, like skulls.

And I gotta say black plastic is really starting to get on my nerves. :grumpy:

I hate a poor blade to handle ratio and also 50-50 choils on larger knives (especially if it has jimping)

I love that my left handed Sebenza only has a thumbstud on one side. It keeps the dirty paws of right handed people off of my knife!

hahahah in my mind this sounds best coming from a pissed off scotsman ... which is to say your average scotty. :D

Reading posts that are little more than conjecture yet the poster feels that they are unequivocally correct because they read their comment from another person with less information and insight. Deep carry clips, zip tie openers.

Hard to clean innards. Bulky knives for edc. Camo. Tons of writing on the blade (there are exceptions) coatings that chip off the first time you use them.

More then a few of my Case and GEC knives have been dull right out of the box. With the exception of my Douk-Douk, every French knife
I've handled has been dull to the point of not having an edge at all. Even my large Seb Classic was not shaving sharp when I received it.
Not a big deal, really, as I can sharpen them, but a knife that leaves the maker or factory dull tells me QC isn't a big part of the agenda.
Is this really the best you can do for your customers?

EVERY damascus Case knife I've bought(around 7 or 8) would come to me with a huge burr on the edge.It used to peeve me a bit,but after literally 3 minutes on the sharpmaker they're shaving sharp.I'm not excusing it by any means. What takes me 3min would take them 30sec on a buffer.Anyhow,I've more or less come to accept it.

LINT
Some folder scratch it out of the pocket and it gets stuck between blade and lock and prevents the blade from locking  DANGEROUS!
Happens very often on my Spyderco Endura where the scales end high above the blade when folded; happens almost never on my Spyderco Native 5 where there isn't much of a gap which can scoop out lint
Yes, I really need to carry it in my pockets (don't want to scare people here in Ca) and yes I do wash my pants regularly :)

Knives with blade steel that doesn't fit the price.

I'm looking at you, Chris Reeve. And Hinderer. And Strider. And Boker. And Emerson. And CRKT. And...

Basically, I'm of the opinion that few to no knives that average more than $70 should have 440c or VG10, and more than $150 shouldn't have S30V or 154CM (CPM154 is a different matter altogether). I know some people have strong opinions about this, and to each their own - it's just, as the thread is about, my pet peeve.
Agree

Nope. Single thumbstuds are fine with me. I'm right handed and do 99.9% of my cutting with my right hand, so I only need a single thumbstud. And since it's seems like you're taking a stab at Chris Reeve, you should know that CRK also offers the Sebenza with dual thumbstuds.

Now, as for my knife pet peeves. I dislike cheap knockoffs, folders with bladeplay, folders with poorly designed pocket clips. Fixed blades with poorly designed sheaths.

Here's the problem... I love my 21 too much to send it off abd wait for 4-6 weeks to get the double lugs put in!! I just wish there were more 21's for sale online with the double thumbstuds already in place! Ive only seen a handful that come stock with that variation!

Higher end production knives or Colabs with new designs but still use older steels. Yes I know there are some really good steels but why update everything else and not the steel. Of course charging more to offset the price difference.

Bad clip placement I.E. 2 inches of knife outta the pocket or more. Thin liners & lockups half or past half NIB

My knife pet peeves are these

1. Dull blades from maker or factory. You make knives. Knives are supposed to be sharp. If you make a knife and it wont do what it is fundamentally designed to do you fail as a knife maker.

2. New knives that look used- The standards of what many production companies consider a new knife to me have fallen. I'm consistently buying more knives that are coming with scratched blades and dings in the handles. 15 years ago these same companies were putting out what I would call close to perfection. And oddly enough then they were doing satin and mirror finishes. Now its all bead blast and stonewash and now those arent being done right.

3. Knives with a lifetime warranties that don't have parts available the day after being discontinued.

4. Blades that are considerably off center and/or having play. If made properly and assembled with properly made parts a blade should self center. If it doesnt, guess what wasnt made properly?

5. Imperfections and defects being dismissed as "character"

6. Most importantly excuses from manufacturers and/or its fan b(oy)ase of why 1-5 are perfectly acceptable.

7. People who sell used knives as NIB or as Minty fresh. - this one really gets me. And it is really why I dislike when companies do any of the above. When companies and makers lower their standards it creates wiggle room for dishonest people to sell things as being brand new in the box because it came that way to them. There simply are too many "minty fresh" knives being sold that come in like a stale fart. I would rather a seller be brutally honest about the condition of a knife so that I am pleasantly surprised by its condition rather than having to make excuses for them after im disappointed.

8. Waved knives. Especially rare and desirable models that have aftermarket waves

9. Prison shank "custom" and/or "handmade" knives

10. Price gouging and hoarding to price gouge at a later date.

Reading posts that are attacks on Tactical/Mall ninja knives as if it's their business what other people like and vice versa.

off center/ground blades on high end knives.

I have been sold a knife that had deep gash near heel of edge. It was described as 'nothing wrong'.
