Biggest Recent Non-Purchase Regret?

Knifecenter had all of their Steel Will knives on sale for 30% off. I hesitated in buying a Cutjack, because I've been going overboard in my knife buying. Wish I had popped on either the D2 or M390 version. I think part of the problem was that I agonized over which of the 4 options to get: 3" D2, 3.5" D2, 3" M390, or 3.5" M390. I really like the blue M390 version, but N. Shabazz put the doubt in me when he said that the D2 was a much better value. Hmmm. Anyway, here's the question:

What knife do you regret not purchasing recently, when it was available (that is, not sold out) and/or on sale (but isn't on sale anymore)?

M4 and Jade G10 Military. I went to buy one for myself for christmas and they were gone! Ended up with a standard lefty military instead.

That's what the exchange here is for! You can find all kinds of things that haven't been made in years. No need for regret. I have more regrets regarding some of my purchases than I do my non-purchases.

+1

No time for regrets! Some of my favorite purchases this year were from the Exchange. All discontinued folders - - ZT 0200KW, BM Mini Ritter m390, and Kershaw Blur cf/CPM154 :)

Spyderco Domino... went back and forth on it since it has a lot of similarities to my Manix 2's... by the time I was ready to pull the trigger, it was already gone from most distributors at a reasonable price. I see them come up here and there on the exchange, so I am sure I will get another chance at some point!

My biggest regret wasn't recent, it was actually a few years ago. I regret not getting a few Diskin Fires when they were much cheaper and easily available.

Nowadays they are like hens teeth and going for almost $1k. Still glad I scored one a couple years ago though.

In that vein, my biggest regret is not getting into the knife hobby sooner... from reading through older threads, seems like everything is getting ridiculously expensive compared to prior years, between MAP, scarcity in particular production runs, etc. WHERE WERE YOU ALL YEARS AGO AND WHY DID YOU NOT WARN ME !?!?!? :D

Always buy the dressed up version, and trade down (with cash added), if you feel it isn't worth it...

I missed a few Benchmade 710's in M4... Those sting, knowing that they would be end-game users for me...

Had a longer (though a bit off topic) grievance posted, but I figured this isn't the place for it.

Missed the chance to snag an HD7 from Emerson’s website. Been kicking myself ever since....

Also last year missed out on a 154cm Strider SnG at my local knife shop.

Just didn’t have the funds at the time.

Actually, things have gotten much cheaper. It's easy to find a framelock flipper on bearings with "premium" steel for a reasonable price nowadays. Even though the framelock flipper fad is crazy right now, 4-5 years ago it was nearly impossible to get such a knife for what they are going for now.

However, if you're someone who seeks out knives through Instagram makers, then yes, things have gotten very expensive. Just like knucks, spinners, and other "EDC" junk.

I regret not loading up on my local dealer's entire discounted stock of Lone Wolf (pre-Benchmade) knives. I bought only one. The rest are all gone now.

I regret not scoring one of the DLT exclusive m390 PM2’s.

On the bright side, because of passing, I felt zero buyers remorse (and had the $$$!) for picking up a black Spyderco Southard on discount a few weeks later (my third Southard—love that knife).

I also regret not pouncing on a particular CRK from the Exchange. The seller was great, but in the end, at the time, the purchase would’ve devistated me. So reluctantly I had to pass. I get a little sad/angry with myself every time I think of it.

That great obsidian dagger by Rolf at the cave market. OK, I'm old. Actually, it hasn't happened yet but I hope to not miss the G5 Metamorph. ;)

Yes, I especially wanted the Lone Wolf Paul Defender knives. They have such an awesome system for opening. Totally unique with the only thing being similar is the Paragon Warlock. (Defender: push button and swing down handle. Warlock: push button scales open and blade now can swing out) I guess these are technically gravity knives.

Cereal_killer Cereal_killer The Street Beat is an amazing knife. I have the lightweight model and it is just an ergonomic masterpiece. It is a joy to carry in waist band and is one of the most comfortable little fixed blades. I actually preferred it to my Guardian 3.

Only issue is that rediculous glass filled nylon sheath. It dulls the edge terribly, which the edge is quite sussptible to doing.

I regret not picking up a zt0804cf when they were on sale... hopeful that zero tolerance comes out with something to replace it.

I also regret not getting a slysz Bowie before they disappeared. That’s a knife I’ve always wanted to try

I regret not picking up a Ritter M390 Grip before they discontinued them.

Yes - I should have pulled the trigger when bladehq had it bundled with spyderco squarehead for $190 or sth like that.

I should have also bought the kw Ritter mini grip in m390 and orange scales (to pair it with my full size ritter grip m390 orange).

Regret not pulling the trigger on the Manix 2 and Para 3 cru-wear when I had the chance.
