Biggest Recent Non-Purchase Regret?

Nothing recent but I could have made a trade this summer for a ZT 500 MUDD. It's been stewing in my brain for a few months now.

Kizer Kesmec. It was $40 instead of $90 and I agonized over it for too long. I think I hesitated because I had just bought a Ferrum Forge Crux and was trying to be a little more careful but I made up for it and discovered a new line of great knives called Bestech and bought one of those instead. I have now closed the year by buying one of my grail knives some call it a Striderco but it is really called a Sacha Thiel Officer. I have been looking for a long time and found one today. It was a happy New Year to myself. I buy myself the best presents.

I, too, just discovered Bestech. My Lion just came in the mail today from Massdrop, and I love it. The knife is clearly meant to be a competitor to the RAT 1 (and Cutjack and other similar models).

My biggest regret wasn't recent, it was actually a few years ago. I regret not getting a few Diskin Fires when they were much cheaper and easily available.

One of mine as well. I was so close to buying one, for a great price! Now I really regret it.
Another would be selling my Infidu. Perfect fixed blade, sold it for dirt cheap too.

Probably the GEC 92 in Ebony I have in my signature. I bought the 2 blade, I bought the wharncliffe, and sold them both. At that time I didn't think I'd want the single blade spearpoint, and now it's almost all I can think about. If I knew they'd only make 50 of them with no more coming in the foreseeable future (GEC seems to resurrect previous patterns at will/at random), I'd have bought one just in case.

The same goes for a bunch of other GEC knives, but none have stuck in mind like that one.

It also seems to me that they are going after Kizer and Real Steel customers.

I hope you're right; competition means better and/or cheaper knives for us.
It seems to be the case. I have only been collecting for 2 1/2 years and have watched China go from junk makers to high end Artisans. I am totally blown away as to the level of their attention to detail. It’s a case of the student surpasses the teacher. They have also figured out how to deliver Knives that don’t need break in time, adjustments or oiling right out of the box. What a novel idea.
And you get all this for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of U.S made equivalents.

Yes, I especially wanted the Lone Wolf Paul Defender knives. They have such an awesome system for opening. Totally unique with the only thing being similar is the Paragon Warlock. (Defender: push button and swing down handle. Warlock: push button scales open and blade now can swing out) I guess these are technically gravity knives.

They pop up, although not often. I picked up my Lone Wolf (Prankster) last year at a local knife show. I think they may be easier to find at shows than here on the exchange. I have seen a couple of Paul locks on the exchange though.

Hadn't even seen those lone wolfs until this thread, now I have an insatiable urge to hunt and spend some money :)

They are such awesome knives. Despite Paul’s apparent last name (?) Defender, the system would be terrible for self defense usage. What it is good at is being awesome!

If you think these are neat please check out the Asheville Steel Paragon Warlock. You have to watch a video to understand what makes it special. I am a sucker for unique mechanisms on knives.

As for defense, the 1911 is for that ;)

I've seen the warlock and I love the opening mechanism, but that handle is fugly! Just don't like the way it narrows near the end, and for almost $300 a small aesthetic nitpick is a deal breaker for me

I kinda regret not jumping on a Carl Colson Custom Loveless ... was perfect for my new hunting knife ... now I see it was bought and only to be relisted for more then the makers orginal price ... so I have to find a different new hunting knife.

Not recent , but I wish I'd grabbed one of those humongous Cold Steel XL Espada in the old AUS8 when they were cheap on clearance . I had a rare bout of practicality !:(
