Biggest, Strongest Folder for $150?

My opinion:

Microtech-Socom elite and to a lesser degree LCC
Buck-Strider
Rekat-Carnivour,Sifu
Camilius-Cuda Maxx bowie or Aftermath.
Benchmade-Afck axis,Tsek Axis,710 axis,
Spyderco-Chinnock,wegner
TOPS-folders
Emerson-CQC8

For a little more than $150, you should get the Buck Strider spear point folder (880SP).

I've just bought one 2 days age and am still amaze at how tough it is.

However, I've sand down the G-10 handle because it's too rough and have already worn thru the inside of my jeans pocket after 2 days.

Only other problem is that I've bought 3 knives in 2 weeks (SOG Pentagon Elite II, Spydie Endura, Buck Strider) and it's going to be hell on my credit card bills next month.:grumpy:

I will have to say the large model Buck/Strider, spear point or tanto. Both are large and very strong, but I would have to give a slight edge on strength to the tanto. That tanto blade just seems nearly indistructable.

The Chinook, SERE 2000, and LCC are also up there, but I just feel like the Buck/Strider folders have an edge over them. Whenever I want a knife to take some real abuse I reach for my tanto Buck/Strider.

Okay, I'll be the prick of the group and say the Roton Balisong.

Massive 3/16" thick blade, huge pivots and stainless handles & a lock that will never fail.

Here's mine..

Other choices would be:

BM 710HS
BM 806D2
Chinook
SERE 2000
BM 732D2BT
BM 42SS
Cold Steel Large, XL, XXL Voyager

There's plenty more for sure.

I like Chad's thinking. However, my guess is you were going for a more conventional style folder.

After getting one of them....I have to say the Hossom Retribution from Ontario...just got one today...Tank...6" closed .200" N690Co blade, 1/8" titanium liners and lock, beautiful thick green micarta slabs.

Strongest, Buck/Strider 880T. Biggest and least expensive the Cold Steel X2 Voyager. Both work well for their respective tasks. The older CS Shinobu folder is a really strong one too and can be often found at a good price point.

If size matters, and we all know that it does, the biggest folder I've found is the Opinel Giant Knife, about 20" long open. Look about 2/3 down the page. They cost around US $60. Opinels are far from the strongest though.

This thing seems impractical and is more of a novelty than a user, but that didn't stop me from ordering one, and it isn't going to stop me from whipping it out at the next cookout.

Spyderco Manix or Mini-Manix.http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_store.html?ttl=Spyderco%20Manix&srch=eqCATE%20CODEdatarq%3Dsp%26eqKEYWORDdatarq%3Dmanix

Ontario Hossom Retribution one or two! From what i have seen these knives make the chinook II like smal:eek:

Biggest and Baddest--Ontario Hossom Retribution 1 The lock is good as liner locks go. Certainly a monster of a folder.

Biggest and Baddest with the strongest lock.

Hmm, that means an Axis or the Manix. Of the Axis locks, an RSK 1 Griptilian would be my choice. There are bigger badder axis locks, but they cost more than your price point.

Microtech LCC was my first thought, if you can find one.

The chinook is also on my mind as well but the blade design isn't for everyone.

A MicroTech LCC non-auto for less than $200 would be an absolute steal if it is in new condition. THat is what I paid for mine and I love it. If the Chinook is built like a tank, then the LCC is built like a bank vault. It is one very heavy-duty knfe and it is a joy to use, if a bit on the weighty side to carry.
