I usually try to ride 20 miles per ride, 3+ times a week. Its breathtaking scenery, Lots of bridges and solitude....

great pics J...:D i love that single speed... i need to build another, now that my knee is getting better...:o

Mike they are sweet, very quiet, and light. They are great man, super simple. A true riding experiance, like when we were kids riding bikes. But you being a one gear guy, already know that, huh?;)

Nice bike. I'm thinking of converting mine into a singlespeed since I mostly just roll around town anyway.

Nice Special__ed!

Wish I had time to ride that much. I have a hard time getting in 10 miles anymore.

Yeah thats a good thing bout my job. 2 24s a week leaves plenty of time for riding/hiking.

Tknife, its super easy, check out misfit psycles. Peter is a super nice guy and will hook you up. They have the nicest singlespeed stuff IMO, besides surly. There chain tensioner is the best, if you dont have horizontal dropouts.

I miss having a mountain bike. Though, I've got enough da.. hobbies anyway.

Ah....the Katy Trail. It's a lot flatter than the roads around it :D.

Good looking bike, but I can't imagine riding w/o clipless pedals. The only single-speed I have is a road bike.

cool bike. around here you just about have to have gears. I ride an 07 stump jumper expert. That's what I was pissed at and did the arm damage.

I was talking another firefighter the other day and he put it very well. he said "I no longer have to get up and go to work, I get to go to work". I thought that sounded perfect.

I like gears - it gives me something to complain about...you know giving the gears to the gears....that kind of thing...

I would like to try single speed one day. But for now I'll stick with my mountain bike and hilly (and dirty!) trails.

Ya man, there are a few guys who ride singles here; they either have monster quads or aren't having much fun.

Ride the same bike as you, though it's not the one I got po-ed at!

Yeah the katy is a perfect training ride. I ride alot of the more knarly trails with it too. I use the narrow dirt jumping seat and platform pedals to ride the big stuff, but I also have clipless crank bros candies for training rides. I am using them for a fixie im gathering stuff to build. Ive been into this sport since I was 9.

I also just got a rigid carbon fork for this one. I am a glutten for punishment.

Back when I started riding MTBs there was no such thing as suspension forks. I bought one of the very first Rock Shox when they came out. I still have my old Bontrager fork on one bike.

I've never ridden the Katy but I've been all around it. I used to do a cross MO road ride every year and one year the course spent a lot of time near the Katy, there were options to ride on it for 3 or 4 days IIRC.

Its a great ride. I dont know bout riding a road bike on it though. I see people doin it. but I think it would be bad on your rims if you hit some of the bumpy areas.
