Bike and trail pics

Back when I started riding MTBs there was no such thing as suspension forks. I bought one of the very first Rock Shox when they came out. I still have my old Bontrager fork on one bike.

I've never ridden the Katy but I've been all around it. I used to do a cross MO road ride every year and one year the course spent a lot of time near the Katy, there were options to ride on it for 3 or 4 days IIRC.

lol me too. there was 2 different ones, only remember the colors, silver and gold. I had the silver ones.

when I was putting my new bike on layaway, the guy behind the counter is telling me how they can "help me" get used to clipless pedals the day i pick it up. Kid was born in like 88. I have literally been on mtn bikes since he was 5 or younger. lol

Is that a Hardrock?

I've got a Hardrock Pro disc. It's a great bike, a bit heavy, but a breat bike.

Single speed seems like a great workout. It seems like it would force you to be a lot more of a technically sound rider since you can't really slow down like you can on a geared bike.

If you mean silver and gold Rock Shox, those were the 2nd (Mag 20) and 3rd (Mag 21) models. The first Rock Shox (RS-1) was black with pink decals, a picture of which can be found here if you scroll down to 1989. That's the one I have, with a SN of 1500-something :D.

I can relate to having some kid at a shop thinking I don't know anything. We've both probably forgotten more about bikes than he knows...lol. I bought my first MTB in 1985, my first good one (a Nishiki) in 1987.

I remember those old rock shox. I dreamed of havin a GT all terra w/ some. There was one at my lbs that I drooled over all the time. That was back when I was riding BMX, and just starting out in mountain biking. I had a chrome dyno vfr. It got stolen off my porch in socal, and got replaced by rockhopper. Havent looked back since.

That was lke in 89 or 90. Man I remember watchin ned overend and readin bout him mtn bike rags in his specialized garb. I was fortunate enough to live in socal when the sport was really gaining momentum.
