I hate to do it. I've kicked around the idea for years and even put it up for trade at some point but I never could bring myself to let go. I finally need the money more than the knife. I just got this back from the man himself in December. He made it sharp and shiny.
Here's the provenance. I'm in Arkansas and Mr Bagwell spent a lot of time in the area at some point in his life. When talking to him on the phone he told many stories about some of the 'legendary' ( my description not his) makers in the area. Around the time he made this knife he was in a Blackpowder long gun club. He made this knife along the lines of the traditional riflemans knife. He's not sure he ever made another. He guessed he made it around 1978-79. As far as price goes this is my best bet. A non Damascus Helles Bells is $3000 from Mr Bagwell. That's what I've found in my limited online research. $4500 for Damascus. Granted those prices are with a middle man and I'm not sure that's how it's done nowadays. Anyway, I'm going to ask for $1000. PM me if interested. I'm not on here every second of the day and I don't have cell service at my home or when I'm out working so response times will vary but no more than 12 hours or so. Thanks y'all.
