For many years in a row, I would speak with Bill Cheatham at the Solvang Knife Show in Solvang, CA. In 2004, at that year’s Show, I asked Bill if he would make me one of his Hunter models and create a handle that was made from both stacked leather washers and micarta. He initially hesitated, but then agreed. As you can see from the images, the knife is gorgeous!
Additional notes:
My records indicate a blade steel of 440C. The knife was never carried, used nor sharpened. The sheath still has Bill’s little sticker on the backside that has the number “10”. (I don’t know what this indicates.)
I’ve never seen another Cheatham knife with a stacked leather handle and believe this may be a one-of-a-kind.
