Uwinv, you still tryin to sell that oily cat? Did it get another immersion in the mineral oil again at the MWKK this year? :footinmou ;)
I wonder if you lined a scabbard with dead oily cat hide if it would be as good as the incredible dead naturally oily sheep hide? :D

Happily, the bottomless bottle of mineral oil remained upright this time. :D

These are beautiful. The handles are perfect. However the blade looks more like a traditional blade, not as much belly as a FF.

Been a long drought of khuk deliveries here :D

The answer depends on what you might be thinking of trading me for the cat! ;)

Those beautiful, deep fullers lighten the blade TL

It wasn't me who dinged you, Thomas. But the way you said 'those' suggested alienation, something apart from the rest of us. That you find what is removed beautiful only adds to the inherent racism of your statement. Likewise 'deep' could be seen as patronizing.

I'm afraid you have much work to do, my friend.

Sigh! So very, very true. :(

Bah. People unfortunately don't have to have a good reason. I've also noticed those with neg rep points to "contribute" don't seem to leave any reason why...unlike the typical +. Have added + points to offset your "dinging" by whomever.

These are beautiful blades. They may make good choppers- dunno- but they'll be a hell of a fighter.

All gone. Thanks so much.

That would be an understatement, Danny :D  All we have left to do is pack and run to the PO tomorrow.....this has been quite an interesting learning experience. Yangdu really has this down to a tee. A most remarkable lady she is.

I'm kinda glad they're all gone. I was so tempted to take one of these instead of the in spec FF I have on the way. I have never been renowned for my patience! If these are any indication of what the 17" is going to look like......WOW!

Do! Just got back into town. Day late dollar short. Those are gorgeous. Ya'll enjoy.

My thoughts, exactly. :)

Remember the two like this that went out a couple of months ago that Dan distributed? I am so glad that I snagged one of those, cuz I worked all day today and would normally have been tearing my hair out at missing these! And at a bargain price as well!

The one I have is about 22" and 29 oz. Only thing is on the length / weight ratio I don't see how these can be 1/2" thick at the spine. Mine is the same length and 5 oz. heavier and the spine is no way that thick, so maybe the blade is broader? But mine looks almost identical to these. Those who get them please let me know.

I prepaid for two, and the one above is one of them. I'm still holding out for the one we ordered, which should be 24 oz. and about 17" I think! (Although at this point I'm confused and tired and will defer to Yvsa!)

I hope we get what we ordered eventually.

Regards,

Norm

P.S. OK, just rechecked mine 2X super carefully and this is what I came up with, _exactly_ (sorry, as on my orginal FF "Dune" report in April I came up with 21.75 inches and 29.3 oz. This time I measured a bit more precisely, and took the average of 10 weighs on the postal scale:

Length: 21.50 inches.
Thickest width at spine: .300 inches
Thickest blade width: 3.25"
Weight: 29.6 oz.
1.376 oz. per inch.
Kami: Bura

Handle, scabbard, karda and chakma appear identical to these, as does overall appearance for that matter. You guys did good (especially as these were $20 less than the prepaid ones! (-: )

To me, the amazing thing about these is their weight. Just think about Bura's ability here a minute. He made a 17" and about 30 oz. trial run for Yvsa (in Feb. I believe, and I think Dan also got one and those were the specs, but Yvsa will have to confirm.) Then he made two 21.5" ers that were also close to 30 oz. Then he was given 24 oz. of weight and now got these at the same length as the second two, but EXACTLY 6 oz. lighter hitting the precise target weight. Amazing.

As I said, I would appreciate a report on the dimensions / specs of whoever gets theirs first. Since the original 21" FF had a 1/2" spine and weighed almost 50 oz., I suspect these spines are closer to the .300 of mine, but would also suspect the flat blade may be just slightly less than 3.25". That 5.6 oz. has to be somewhere. (?)

Now Bura has got the weight perfect. So now all we gotta do is ask him to lose 4.5" off the length and we should be spot on. I hope...! :D

Those are outstanding! I love the lines and flow, great handles too. Of all the HI khuks, those are my favorite. Too bad I don't have the dough.
