Birth of the Neckula!!

we should convince rat/becker to start making this under the name neckula, if kmm approves it.

You sir, are a mad genius. Great stuff.

Are you worried about the weld junction being a weak spot and possibly breaking under stress?

Birth of a legend... KKM your vision was brilliant. So glad your vision became a reality that we all can benefit from. And major thanks to Ethan and Jeff for recognizing the brilliance and moving forward to carry it out. I love this knife! Thank you to you all.

Im glad to hear that people are enjoying their BK14 as much as im enjoying mine . Kudos to Jeff and Ethan for setting it all in motion.

The Izula micarta scales fits the BK14 with 5 mins of filework. As far as i know those are the only micarta options currently available. It would be fantastic with a set of full-length scales though!

Yes... a full length set of micarta scales would be wonderful. Ethan? Jeff? Ka-Bar? Please make this offering.

I just had to necromance this thread, since I had no idea how the BK-14 collaboration was really inspired by the OP, who I think should be sitting pretty somewhere on a seaside ranch in Costa Rica, living the vida loca courtesy of royalties from BK-14/24 sales.:)

Hahaha...I've often thought the same! But sitting on my couch wearing my freebie Kabar t-shirt must be the next best thing.

:D

Well friend, you get a humongous Bravo Zulu from me for your efforts. You are truly a talented and highly imaginative individual.

Yeah, count some props from me in too, I've always loved how the BK14 came to be.

Thanks for bumping this. I didn't know how it came to be! Love me some 14/24.

I agree man. This is the first time I've found the thread and got to see the process. Great job! I love my 14!

Funny - as I started reading the thread - I thought "Why not just buy a 14?" Then, I saw it was from 2009!
Great work, great inspiration. Great knife!
How did it go, welding SS to the 1095?

Still no full-length micarta, though, so I made my own.

Yes, one would think that by now, there would be factory micarta options for the 14/24, or at the very least, any number of custom scale makers specializing, or atleast offering, some custom scales in micarta and G10 for the 14. As it is, all we have are the Zytel scales, which are serviceable, but gee, even the Izula gets more respect then the 14 when it comes to aftermarket scales.

Nice! About the micarta scales, I think I remember seeing a set at the Kabar booth at blade...but I'm not 100%...my bad memory may be fooling me. Moose was working it so maybe he can tell us. I know they had them for the 7,9, etc. but I thought I saw a small set for the 14. Maybe. Hopefully.

man what a great thread! I've always been on the fence about the 14 since I've had an 11 for some time now, but now with the 24 out there it's just a matter of time, really like D2 and u can't go wrong with Ka-Bars. Thanks for a heck of an idea, Prop!
