Bitches are the best

I'd like a male if possible. Female shepherds are too hyper for me. Smarter, but hyper.

I like the females because they have always been easier for me to train....years back I used to bread dobe's and I found the same with them....Of coarse I can't hate on male dogs. I like to mark may territory too.....Of coarse the wife gets pretty mad when i try to piss on her leg to mark her as mine.....;)

Every female I have had is way smarter than the males but also way more hyper. I don't necessarily need "smart" to train what I'm looking for. I do need calm temperment though.

Thats a beautiful pup! I have a Malamute/Husky mix and a white German Shepherd and they are great! Exact opposites, but great!

There is nothing the platter of little feet around the home to make it feel like a real home. MY wife keeps telling me that her next one is going to be a GS.

Thanks for all of the compliments about Penny. Her and her predecessor have an unusual history. One of my neighbors, Luis, breeds "mutts" out of his favorite dogs. Over the course of about 20 years now, he selects the dogs for their personality and performance around a human family and then selectively breeds the best of his dogs for his "future" dogs. He says it's like a cloning project without the genetic damage of inbreeding.

I have to say that the results for me twice now have been pretty impressive. I had no idea that there were folks who bred mutts, but he says thats where "Labradoodles came from, tinkerers." He does it out of hobby interest and not for profit though. My two dogs were "free to a good home." He even has a book on every one of the dogs and how they came to be, what breeds went into them, etc.

He started off by getting non-show purebreeds he was interested in as "studs," again selected for their temperament and not how close they were to a paper ideal.

Penny is part of the sixth generation in his "breed" book.:D

That ought to be a nice dog Boats. She's got BIG feet! Looks very much like our dog when she was a pup. Ours is Lab, German Shepard, Collie & Chow. She's very smart & very well mannered.

I am in the same boat brother ,I have one that we have had for 17 years and her time is drawing near :(

My Beagle is pushing 18 and winding down, fast.

I know the day is coming, but I still dread it.

Nice puppy, Boats.

I'm partial to the "big, vicious" type dog myself. We have an understanding.

bite work is a part of Makwas life.

My son has an eight year old Rottie and she is suffering with problems in both hips. She takes pain meds and that OTC joint med. My son saw the vet with her today. To replace the hips, $5,000...each hip.
