Been wanting to do a rendering of a BK Nessmuk. These took me a bit of time, but here ya go:

Isn't the nessmuk pattern traditionally a smallish blade? When I think nessmuk, I think 4in blade or so.

That top one (looks great btw Warrior) would have to be at LEAST 6in for it to look like that on the fullsize becker handle. Also, the shape looks vaugly machete-esq to me, so when the blade is starting to get larger, its getting more associated with machetes to me at least.

Still, nice GiMP man, looks great. I always have a hard time making the coating on the blade work out this well, and especially the texture and sheen on the edge when I do these.

I had the tweener blade smaller, and I stretched it out a bit. I actually thought it looked better shorter. I should have left it that way. Thanks guys, btw.

BK Nessmuk:eek:

Ok, where do I pay?

Seriously though I love the things your doing with knife/BK images and I'd be all over the BK-Nessy

You nailed the Tweener, for sure. The thing I notice about the Nessmuk pattern is the curve of the edge. The larger one is missing the mark in that regard. I think the Tweener is the way to go on this pattern anyway.

You're really good at this

Ethan is going to throw a net over you and keep you in his basement.....there will be lots of new knives in 2013.

sweeeet :)

i've been bugging Ethan for ages for a Nessmuk ;) he's not buying it yet :>

Steve Johnson though, he knows about taking critters apart :)

oh, and a Wharncliffette :) oh yes. some kind of sheepfoot, esp for the boating crowd.

MMM...

there's only 29,000 blade variations in the catalog, but the geometries are simpler than that. pointy, rounded, half-rounded. up, neutral, or down swept tips. certain edge shapes... the spines? all over the place, but matter mostly for ergos. handles - now there's a study in art :> A + B. as we've seen, you can put the same two handles on two different knives, and get different results, or put different handles on the same knife. parts is parts, but the results are often surprising.
