BK Scale Project ***FINAL***

Nah, I guess I will take the time to get those figured out myself here at some point.

So, with your Izula scales, you have lots of different types, and it looks more than a few in a plastic type of material. I was wondering, what type of material is that, and how do you do those ones? Are they cast from a mold made from a metal one, or do you have all of those cnc'd like you do the metal?

That clear one is pretty sweet bro. Heck they all are.

I'm sure that you can easily get those figured out in no time. Base on what I saw in your drawing, you're very close. Great job, man! All of my Izula scales are machined. The plastic type are Lexan (the type that used in the Bank's windows, in front of the teller for bullet proof). Actually we used those to make windows for air planes and space shuttle and they're left over.

What kind of design freedom do you have with your hardware? Are you limited to pretty much just flat surfaces or can you do really curvy, textured stuff?

I was in the trade. Still in the trade so to speak. I sale Mastercam in Indiana and Kentucky. Do a lot of contract programming. Just finished up some programs for a Mazak Laser. Wish I had a machine in the garage. Could make some really nice stuff. Mastercam has a product called Art. Adding textures to handles or art work would be very easy.

Hardware? You mean CNC machines? All of CNC that access to me are capable of 3D machining and I can do really curvy texture stuff. Beside Surfcam, I've been using other sofware that speciallized in 3D. It just that the price point is the limit not the ability. :D

Cool, I've used Mastercam before. Have not used Mazak Machine but heard good thing about them, I have run many different machines and favored Okuma best. . I'm glad I don't have to work in a garage here, especially in Summer:eek:. Our works required the use of a programmable CMM machine. In the past I've used the Protable CMM arm and glad it was the past:D

OK, this time I like how the scales fit, and the thickness is right on after I milled them down 1/4" total. The back of the scales have not milled out yet and I don't think it necessary anymore. The weight is a little bit heavy compare with the Micarta scales but feel solid in hand and I like it that way. The new pattern on the scales gives it a "classy" look. Now I would love to hear from you all, inputs are always welcome. Cheers!!!

Hey Sh@rp, Love the brick-type pattern. It'll be a long time before I can afford anything after this week (Live in Alabama - House is fine, but no power, lost all our perishable food, had to go buy a generator - blah blah blah - waa waa waa) but I thought I'd give you my input anyway. Lookin' cool as heck right now Bro!

I like it - cool surface pattern and thickness looks much more comfortable!
and good to see my esky made it to you.

WOW those scales are beautiful, Ive never seen anything that nice before.

Im new to the BK-7 and the Becker knives, can you please tell me how the blade part of your knife has the shiny reflection?

Did it come that way, as I thought the Bk-7 only came with the thicker black coating on it?

Many thanks.

those are sweet
Thank you, my friend! Got your order and replied your email.

I'm sorry, It's the BK 77 (my fault I put BK 7 in my thread), It's S30V stainless steel. Only 150 Piece made. If you hurry there still some floating around the net. It comes mirror finished. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers!

Wow. Lemme know when you get done with the ESKy. I will be very interested in that.

Great work, stellar. The best BK77 I have ever seen.

Today I ran the last modification for the scales, added some graphics to them. The dimensions were perfect so did the fits. I'm very very happy how this turned out. Thank you all for your inputs, I really appreciated it :):):). I made two sets today. After this post, one set will go to BluesStringer and the other will go to 1066vik. Enough talk. The pics...
