BK10 and ESEE 6?

Researching to buy a new bigger sized blade after my ESEE-6 got stolen... considering the Becker line since just a little easier to get here in EU. I'm a bit perplexed though, going through the pictures here above, how much thinner an ESEE-6 is at the spine, while in theory both ESEE-6 and BK10 should be 0.188" or 3/16". Is anyone able to accurately measure the thickness of the blades?

BK7 could also be an option. Same 0.188" and half an inch taller than the ESEE-6.

You are indeed correct. The ESEE6 spine thickness is less than 0.188". Per the ESEE website, the maximum thickness is 0.188", but this thickness is only present behind the plunge line along the spine of the handle. I'm no knife maker, but I assume when they manufacture the full flat grind, it removes a slight amount of thickness along the blade spine resulting in a thinner than 0.188" spine.

BK10 kabar edition is da bomb :D

BK12 aka Doug's Perseverance... sweet.

got an ESSE 6 but some famous guy signed it, so it's in the vault.

I never had the bk10 but once I got my bk 7 and added some new grips and a sheath I sold my esee 6 off.

The BK10 is where it's at. My favorite Becker. I've even grown to love the ramp. I know, weird.

Just adding to the confusion

Kydex not included.

I've had a few BK10's. While I like it, I didn't see anything it could do that the BK2 couldn't. The weight of the 2 never bothered me any at all. That said, the ESEE 6 is a hell of a nice blade. I have an older RAT model, and love it. One of my favorite blades.

Your name wins the internet.

Thanks, lol

I don't even know if it has a meaning to be honest, it's just something silly I came up with when the registration form put me on the spot by asking me to submit a user name one late December night 4 years ago

I have many blades including the esse 6, bk-12 as well as the 2. All are great blades. The esse 6 with the tkc scales is awesome. Great edge retention and an awesome single blade option. As for the beckers the handles are amazing and the micarta makes them more grippy. If I had to carry a single blade to cover a trip it would be ... Well... Either one really! In my honest opinion they all perform great, they have great edge retention (maybe the esse is a slight leader) and ultimately I suggest you pick the one hat most appeals to you... Eventually you will have them all as they are great blades. The esse is more slicey, the bk-12 is better for making bow drill sets, the bk-10 is close behind and the 2 is a monster that does everything pretty well and will live with the cockroaches after a nuclear war. They are all great blades and won't let you down

I picked up the ESEE 6 last year with some TKC G10 and a 710 Custom. I like it a lot.
