Just received my micarta scales from Saintcutlery for my 14 and am disappoint!

After waiting 3 weeks and paying $25 for postage (shouldn't have cost more than $10 btw) they don't fit snug at all!!

There's a lot of forward/backward slide which makes them completely unusable!

Just putting this out there for anyone thinking about getting some.

/end rant.

EDIT!

Saintcutlery has made it good with new scales and some extra! :)

That's unfortunate. Can you take pics? It sounds to me like you need to either tighten them more, or just install a spacer, so at least it should be an easy fix. If you don't have the tools to do it, I'd be happy to help out. Just would need the knife/scales and return postage. Cheers!

-edit- although Germany postage might be bad, so it might not be worth your while.

As you can see, there's quite a gap and it's tightened as far as it'll go.

Thanks for the offer but it wouldn't be worth to send and getting it back could get funky with the idiots at customs here.

Edit- à$"&!! Can't get them off now!!

You could fashion a couple of chocks/spacers between the scales so that they can't slide fore or aft.

But it should NOT be necessary to do that.

Sure hope the BK14 scales to be introduced by BKT at the Shot Show fit betterl . . . somehow I'm sure they will! :)

Get some epoxy then tighten them down, but that will be pretty permanent
Not ideal but thanks.

I was thinking of that as well but damn! I paid $50 for these things and you would think they would fit right?

But it should NOT be necessary to do that.

Exactly!

I'm pretty pissed off at SC right now and they don't do returns either! They'll be getting some serious negative feedback on fleabay for this.

I guess I'll have to fashion some chocks for them now!

Man, Lecter, that sucks. I hate that.

My Izula micarta had to be CUT down, so it would fit my BK14. The BK14 has thicker stock in the handle area. I cut about 1-2mm of micarta off the inside relief cut outline so it would fit.

Damn, bro.

Thanks man.

Here's a better shot showing the space gap.

Damn, man, Ok, mine didn't look anything like that. Were those ESEE micarta grips, or some that someone had made for it? I know that ain't right, that just looks like hell, and totally out of spec.

So is the problem with the insert that fits inside the handle or will the outside of the handle not cover the cut out? Trying to see if we are talking about one problem or two. I don't think that mind fit flush inside the cut outs but once I tightened it down it did not budge even with the gap on the inside.

Man, that's a horrible fit. Thanks for the heads up, I was about to order a set.

Custom made from Saintcutlery.

The insert isn't flush to the handle and therefore, no matter how much you tighten them, they will slide around when using the knife.

I dont get it...Are these custom made for the BK14 or are they ESEEs standard Izula scales?

Custom made from these guys!

That's crap. Epoxy putty should fix that up nicely, however. Just fill the gaps. Or you can make a new spacer that fits in the middle between the scales. I can't say my tolerances are always the same, as I've noticed that there seems to be some differences between the handle fits on my Beckers though. The handle I made that fits my 10 has a pretty large gap when I fit them to my 2. But I don't charge for my scales :P Certainly not that much, especially for micarta.

Saint Cutlery custom makes these and says specifically that they are for the BK14.

After the pics, I call bullshit on that one. Caveat Emptor.

@Lecter

Send them back for a refund if you can. Then get the ESEE micarta scales. There are loads of stores selling them in Europe. Heinnie in the UK has them for 19 GBP. Thats 29 bucks.

To me it looks like the scales are upside down, however it also looks like a poor fit. Is the gap just on the inside or is the fit along the spine no good also?
