thanks guys. i appreciate it. i handled it some more last night as i tried to clean up the blade a bit. and, i've taken another look at 'er this morning. it's growing on me. the balance is nice, and skinny or not, it's still comfy.

heading fishing in a few minutes and will bring the ol' 16 with me. i'll get some pics.

yeah, that was the problem. i prefer a handle with thicker handles. BUT...like i said, i think it'll be ok. i will try to use it a bit and make an informed decision. thanks for the kind words.
