BK2 Broke

Not a total loss, enough blade left with a hole , you could made a decent spear, if in a true "survival" situation, or it's a very expensive flint striker. Have to look on the positive, but in all honesty, yeah, I doubt the manufacturer covers this. Also interesting observation by the poster replying that cited the species of flora..if that's true it's a shame and also a little reminder for those of us trekking someplace to be careful, one erroneous move or an uninformed one can have disastrous consequences on the local ecology.

i didnt mean too come as being upside the op's head it is ashame. if i broke my knife no matter how i would be mad as you know where lol. but the good news its a great excuse too buy a new bk2!!

I saw this thread earlier today but did not comment.......and still I can only say.....What a waste.

It looks like you built your fire on Cladonia Rangiferina. Most refer to it as Reindeer Lichen. It should grow back in twenty or thirty years. Grows a few millimeters per year.

People have been blinded before when beating hardened steel against hardened steel. Please be careful. Just takes a small chip.

First thing I noticed was the lichen. Is there really no other place to make a fire, how damn disrespectful is that?! Putting aside stupidity, that knife breaking was just karma, and I hope your axehead flies off too.

Hey now, let's not wish ill on others, fellas. Want to talk about karma? That's a fantastic way to get the universe to punish you. Hopefully OP learns a few lessons from this, and continues to experience the outdoors in a safer and more respectful way.

I really hope we haven't angered or frightened the OP away. Not being condescending in any way, but it seems he could learn a lot here. No need for me to mention the specifics of the incident as they've been thoroughly cross examined above. As for the BK2, buy another and use it properly, you'll be surprised at that hunk of cro-van.

That reply is over the top and uncalled for, plue. Apparently, you missed my last post. Please tone it back, or you'll be getting an infraction for Christmas.

I think some people like to jump on the band wagon and beat the dead horse.. original poster most folks around here are good people who would probably teach you a thing or 2 if you stuck around to do some lurning. If Brab broke his bk2 while demonstrating its capabilites his thread would have gone from wow how awesome to people wishing bad things on him..its a knife ditch your emotional attachment to an object that will only ever show you love by making you bleed. people are ridiculous

To the OP, I think you are still entitled to a new BK2...however it would be appropriate in this instance if you pay for it. Lesson learned.
On the bright side, if you were using a different knife it would have broken much sooner.

This is true, unless that different knife was a busse ash-1

Tell you what, lockdown at this point may be best.

The OP got the answers he was seeking, and it appears the thread is about to spiral off into unrelated discussion.

I'll be sure Ethan sees this one, and we can put it to rest for the time being.

Ethan was aware of this one within minutes of my first reply. He's busy with family and holidays, but will be back I'm sure in time.

BlindRage1810, I tried to send you an email, but you have email turned off. Here is the message:

BK-2 Thread

It was getting more and more disrespectful, so I locked it. However, I do want you to know I sent the link to Ethan, so he'll see it eventually.

Sorry the knife broke. I do think folks were rightfully concerned about safety; that's where I was coming from. If you ever read a warning sticker on a new hammer, you'll see what I mean. Actual mauls/splitters/wedges are softer steel to avoid a cataclysmic, harmful breakage.
