Really cool! Don't know if I'll have time to put together an entry for the contest but I know I'll be putting one in my shopping cart when they come out. Thanks for the pics!

Good beat down Moose... looks like hickory! Was that the factory edge?

Yup, hickory. Been down and drying on my porch since early Spring. Twas a gift from willis.

Nope, my edge.

None of my knives keep factory edges much past the honeymoon fondling. Kind of like, sealing the deal so to speak.

Thanks... I gotta confess you got me looking at KME.

Good stuff. I have to admit, that stone wash finish does look sweet. Looks like it works well to. ;)

Just give Ron a call, tell him I sent ya. Just talk to him for a few minutes.

He's not a salesman, he's a bowhunter. :D

I don't live near an ocean. Sorry, best I could do. Ambient temp is 75 degrees.

1 hour, salt water dried to just salt. You can see the concentration of salt I had going on.

Draw your own conclusions, me thinks. I think it holds up pretty well to salt water.

Thanks Moose!! I already knew I was going to get one but now I'll be getting one for my brother-in-law too. He's stationed in Okinawa & has already broken two benchmades, both with 154cm blades.

Had I known its fate I would have given you a piece that was not prime straight walkin' stick material.

Yeah, I needed something tougher'n woodpecker lips. That fit the bill. Plus, didn't have much else to work with.

hickory, the test material of choice for the fabled creator of the original Bowie knife, Samuel Black. It has been said that a knife made by him that would not shave hair after an hour of whittling hickory would be thrown away. The question is- does the 24 pass the test?
I'm with you, Moose. I keep factory edge for the first few days, then sharpen myself- 'cuz most manufacturers don't sharpen to as fine of an edge as I like. I prefer an almost mirror polish on most knives.

great thread, Moose. thanks for doing it. I live 5 minutes from the beach. I know I will have one of these.
