Your just being ridiculous now. I take good care of my stuff too. The fact is other materials are more durable then polyamide in heat resistance, scratch resistance, dent resistance, exc. They also look better imo. Its your choice if you want or need that. Just like it is mine. Just respect others personal opinions and choices man. I didnt say you are an idiot because you like Grivory. I am ok with you liking it. As long as your happy all is well:thumbup:

Seriously? You basically said burn it. Then you asked if I might leave my shit by a fire to burn. So, yeah...I said that's stupid and only an idiot would do that. So...I'm ridiculous...ok...

I was giving an example or test to show the lower durability. As I said accidents happen and these are hard use knives. As I also said its up to you if you care about the added durability or better looks.

by the time a default handle is melting or burning, you've probably affected the heat treat.

so, abuse.

Lock it down! It's going nowhere fast. Already waisted enough time. Way to go, Tachead! You've ruined yourself here.

Actually those numbers run small, so basically they're customs. As in, not like the other 99% of their product lines. And mostly folders.

oh, totally. i had a collection of Bark River Nessmuks.

they did exactly *one* of each major handle material/color.

form searching, i don't think they made more than 30 or so.

they did a "production run" of one color... i think that didn't amount to more than 50. try to find posts about them. they're basically unobtanium.

same for many of their other products. they have extremely limited amounts compared to the 1000s and 1000s other companies make. drives the value up too ;)

All the knife brands I listed are production knives including Survive(although they are smaller runs indeed). And, no the knives they make in 3V and V4E are not mostly folders. They are hard use fixed blade mainly. Some of the companies listed dont even make folders.

rapidly becoming an armchair expert vs 35+ years of evidence ;)

unless something happens soon, we might as well end this thread.

But that's all pure speculation. You have zero examples of any of the stated scale material being more durable than another when used as scale material. Sure, maybe the product shows to be more durable than another in some sort of material test but I can speculate that none of them have ever worn out or had any durability issues in this application.

Survive knives do not impress me. They've piggybacked on proven blade profiles, and their MO seems to be pleasing the VERY FEW people like you. They give you what you want. An expensive piece of steel that cuts stuff, while fooling you into believing you have an elite knife. I get the feeling that you're entirely FOS. I think you memorized more specs than learned skills. Anything, and everything you buy will serve you just fine by sitting unused. Don't bother. I won't believe a word you say, anyways.

i think Tac needs to stick some knife handles in/near fire, and take pictures/video and get back to us...

someone on hear has pictures of G10 *smoking and burning*. sure as hell, if it's a synthetic polymer, glass filled, laminate, hoo hah, it's going to burn pretty well with all those resins and stuff.

micarta? usually made from cloth, like linen or cotton, or other high density organic weaves. the resins WILL burn, and the organics will often smolder to charcoal and/or burn. custom wood? please.

there are very few man made materials, used in knife handles, even customs, that are not affected by heat.

even then, as i said, by the time you are that careless or have an accident, your knife just got annealed and you broke the heat treat.

this has pretty much not been an issue for anyone, ever, in the history of the world, regardless of brand. eh?

"og burn knife! og laugh! og knife made of obsidian! hahahha. ob burn self on hot knife. og mate laugh. og burn mate. og laugh. og have no mate, but hot shattered knife. og make new knife. not wife."
