Didn't know I'd be second, way cool! Thanks for the heads up. I'm heading to the big city for a family shindig Saturday morning. Will check the PO Box before leaving and post if it arived when I can get to a computer. Wonder if my sister would let me test the knife on my neices birthday cake? LOL!

Nice pictures! Luckally I saw the pictures of the lamb while eating or I'd be really hungry right now.

BTW How you liking the PMR-30?

first really, as you piped up as such. i'm just the starting point man ;)

hopefully you get it, so you can do silly things with it without it languishing too long. mmm, cake.

i brought my Eskabar to a steak house. nobody noticed. they'd notice the MC though. oh yes.

i'm like the PMR-30. a lot. gun of the year imho. unique and fun.

Got the Magnum camp on my way out of town today. The family thought it was cool. Wasn't able to cut the cake with it because my niece is big into cupcakes at the moment. It did a nice job opening some presents though. Am looking forward to giving it a good work out this week!

It's up to my sister if the BK-5 gets Turkey duty, but I'm sure she won't mind. Tomorrow I'll be making Dutch OVen Chili and the Magnum camp will get a chance to show it's stuff chopping onions and peppers.

Be sure and dice up some sirloin, chili is always better with sirloin. Or ribeye.:D

Yesterday We bought 80/20 hamberger for the chili instead of steak, sorry. Though come to think of it, the roasts were probably a better price per pound. Doh! Stay tuned, I'll have pics and info later today.

I'm making Dutch Oven 5 bean chili right now and have used the BK-5 to cut all the veggies. I was really impressed at how well it sliced through all the onions, bell peppers and green chilis. This thing is a crazy good slicer!!

Here it is after cutting up some onions:

I'll post more pictures when the Chili is done. Now to figure out what else to do with the BK-5 today.

That thing looks awesome.

Lots of raving about slicing capabilities, but how does it compare to an *actual* kitchen knife? It looks like it would be a great turkey carver.

it's easily on par with either my chef knife or my santoko

but those can't chop oak :)

but have you tried?? hehehe. -Daizee

they're mid end Henckells/Wustoffs, and no, i haven't because i know what would happen and i would cry :)

such things are relatively thin soft steel to be sure. now, maybe certain higher end folded steel ones might get away with it, but well.

Bladite

the mid-grade Henckles are staples in my kitchen, which is exactly why I asked about the comparison. They do a pretty good job. My old Chicago Cutlery sits completely unused, except for the boning knife.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this thread. Keep the pics going, Passarounders!

Great Pictures!!!

Makes me wished I signed up, to be honest I wasn't at all interested in this knife, but my opinion of that is changing dramatically..

yeah, that's the idea for the pass-around :) generate interest and lust and ...

since this started up, interest is MUCH higher. before it was like "magnum camp i love you and will buy one when they come out" but it sounded like "ho hum, it's out" ;)

and look, that Tac Tool thread, go go go, several people went and bought some of those. nice.

You couldn't have said it better. I bought a Tac Tool and I'm almost positive after my turn is up with the BK5 I will have an order in for one of those as well. Heck, my brother and two friends are also wanting to have a look at it when it comes.

Speaking of pass arounds creating interest... any chance the BK14 will be making the rounds?

can't see why not... though honestly, the BK14 is such a slam dunk, it's just a foregone conclusion that if you buy it, and hate it, well, it'll make a great gift. except you won't hate it. slapping handles on it is even more conclusive i hear (haven't bought any myself yet)

I only ask because over in the ESEE forum there have been a couple of posts (one by me, but several from others) of people debating over the Izula, Izula II, Eskabar and the BK11. In a perfect world, I'd love to be able to have all four in front of me and see which is best. Some folks won't shut up about how great the Izula blade shape is over the BK11.

Yes, yes. I know. Buy all four. Send it here if I don't like it...

Anyway, back to the topic of the BK5 passaround... Is it my turn yet? I'm last on the list. Try not to mess 'er up too bad now, ya hear?

I got an Izula and BK-11 last year and carry the BK-11 more because it's a better slicer. The Izula has a slightly longer handle which is nice, but they both work. An Eskabar IMO would be the perfect choice.

Not your turn yet, I still have a few more days. Must get back to playing with it....
