If you look at this photo of the old BK5 in stainless that Bladite posted from the magazine article, the swedge looks minimal.

I’ve seen a few from the original iterations where the swedge stops just shy of the tip as well.

That stainless version looks more like the spine has a bit of a relief, as opposed to a swedge.

Wow, it sure does. It dang near looks like a high saber grind, but I can tell it's a swedge.

Yea it’s fascinating. Looks like it keeps the tip wicked slicey but gets the swedge geometry for the meat if the spine.

That looks like overslice to me.

Looks like there is a wicked burr up towards the tip of this blade that I really want to strop off.

I absolutely loved my 5. Really wish I wouldn’t have traded it away a few years back.

I modifed my BK5 with dogwood firefly scales. Blue resin set with green glow stones in it. Kept me from loosing it a few times. The "Speed Spine" or "Speed Swedge" on the back is farther down than the 1266 Modified Tanto I noticed. They both got a slight curve, the BK5 has a "Taller" blade height and the blade is bigger than the 1266 and is about the same length. Blade form wise, the 1266 was made for piercing things it seems than the BK5, the two almost look simular, but they got differnces making them differn't yet similar critters.
