BK5 on Ebay

I must agree, the knife:

does look like it has seen some use above "light". Even the kydex sheath shows some wear!

$89.00, wow, I am sure the ebay seller is happy! I guess I am no sure what this knife or the MachAx are really worth these days!

The below seems in better condition:

You can see on the second picture, it looks like some of the coating is missing from the middle nut and some of the bolts as well - Overall the blade looks, OK - just rub marks on the handle (although it could be the lighting).

Neither have the original box.

I guess we will have to watch them both and see what the Ebay community thinks they are worth :D Should be entertaining!

oddly, reading the michigan description on their own website, and looking at the pictures... i'm seeing more than "mild handling" to my eyes. it looks like it was used a bit. box opening maybe, definitely some cutting and scrapes on their. nothing major mind, a good user, but it is NOT new in box minty mint. $89? robbery.

good luck to whomever :>

OK Bladite, what are you talking about now? You said that the michiganknives knife looked used (ref. above quote). I said it looks new to me. Then you go and post a few links. I think you are mistaken and perhaps you are unwilling to admit as much.

I think there's a mix-up here. The Michigan Knives knife was never $89. It was $139. And then it was 99 cents for a while. Right now, it's at $31.05. But it was never $89. IMO, it looks pretty good. No marks a damp sponge and some hot soapy water wouldn't take off.

The used BK-5 *is* at $89. I think that's the one Bladite is talking about. It has clearly seen some use. Maybe skinned a buffalo or three.

Agreed on all counts. Guyon, it's nice to have you around.

I have one of these (with the edge convexed by Mr. Fisk himself!), and $89 IS definately worth it. It is IMHO the best of the Becker line. I too hope that the new manufacturor (or however you spell that) will restart the 5.

Well, if Beckers are ever made again by another company, I'm sure a lot of us will regret some of the prices we have paid. But for those that might not ever be made again, I'm just glad to have the ones I have. (and am getting)

Is Camillus no longer going to produce the Becker line? Or am I reading to much into this comment! If so, I have not heard of this yet!

I don't know about that. If Camillus goes under or stops the Becker line, that may just make those models even more desirable. Sort of like the Blackjack knives are now.

Knifefury, take a look at this thread, particularly this post.

$150.50, another high dollar Becker!

One more still on auction, but $150 is a little rich for me for a Becker, especially since I paid about $80 for my Brute a year ago.

Unfortunately it looked like "dave mastrianna" was not able to snatch up the first one :grumpy: I have 2 boys as well, but at 4 and 2 years old they are a little young for knives!

I know nobody pays MSRP, but here is a little guide for you.

BK77 MSRP $398.99
BK1 MSRP $123.99
BK2 MSRP $113.99
BK3 MSRP $169.99
BK4 MSRP $129.95 discontinued
BK5 MSRP $109.95 discontinued
BK6 MSRP $103.99 ?
BK7 MSRP $79.99
BK9 MSRP $95.99
BK10 MSRP $73.99
BK11 MSRP $51.99

I my humble opinion If you can buy any of these knives for 75% of MSRP your getting a good deal. If you can get any of thes knives for 60 - 65% of MSRP You should buy the knife, its a bargain.

When the dealers stock was easly replenished the knives could be purchased at the 60% level. At this point dealer are not so ready to sell of their stock because the knives are very hard to replace.

If I can help anyone out with the BK2, BK3, BK7, BK11. email me.

So true Tom. Several online dealers have told me in recent weeks, the Beckers were on backorder till Dec. Now they are telling me because of the problems Camillus is having, they have no idea when, and reading between the lines, a little "if ever" thrown in.

From what I see, certain Becker knives are coming in slowly. After what Camillus has gone through it will take them a while to get back into full swing (I am being very hopeful). As popular as the Becker Line is, in my opinion, that would be a knife that they would jump on. Another point to look at is the military order that needs to be filled. To my knowledge they still have a military contract. If anyone has better information about the military contract please jump in and update me.

Tom, I posted these figures in another thread. I got my numbers by just going to the Camillus website and mining the Becker section for prices. They're not exactly spot-on with yours, but they're close. Thanks for providing the BK-4 and BK-5 prices. Hard to believe that the BK-5's MSRP was only $109.95. Wow. The prices listed at http://www.camillusknives.com/ are:

BK77 - $390.99
BK1 - $158.95
BK2 - $113.50
BK3 -$170.00
BK4 - no longer listed
BK5 - no longer listed
BK6 -$113.50
BK7 - $79.50
BK9 - $96.50
BK10 - $74.80
BK11 - $51.95

looks like that last bk5 went for a pretty penny... whoa.

guess people REALLY want those.

bladite

I think it's a matter of people having a lot of cash to spend, and don't mind spending it when they want something.

I can't figure the beater going for over $150 and the brand new one going for $15 less. Strange world.

Have a BK-5 and a Blackjack Becker Magnum Camp on their way. Will post pics of the whole, happy Magnum Camp fambly when they arrive.

"Guyon", I was thinking the same thought! Maybe the guy who wanted the used one so bad did not know there was a newer one out there at the same time. The world will never know. At least it was entertaining for us on the forum! :D

At least I should be getting some Micarta handles from Tom soon! Thank you!
