BK5 on Ebay

The micarta on the BK-5 rocks! Here's a pic of triplets...

i've always wanted triplets :)

love the shine on the old skool magnum camp. i think they made at least *3* of those ;) perhaps someday i'll score one :) :) :)

the handle material on those old beckers is WEIRD stuff, isn't it? it's like compressed plastic, not quite the swiss-thermo stuff they use now. denser feeling, i like it more.

oh, ever consider taking one of those black coated ones (your user), and removing the coating and shining it up? mmm. perhaps send it out for bead blasting :)

Guyon, will the stock screws fit the micarta handles, or do the aftermarket screws have to be used?

Stock screws work fine on everything but the BK-1 and the Bk-4. The tang on both the Brute and the Machax are a little thicker, and so the screws don't quite reach. I still want to put some micarta on one of each. I'm going to have to find an aftermarket source for the screws.

I actually have a quadruplet pic , but since one of the knives in the pic is already spoken for, I didn't post it.

It is strange stuff. More grippy, but not as consistent in terms of the molding. The scales do seem a bit less polished compared to the current Beckers, don't they?

Not yet, though I might try it with a BK-2 sometime. I have a BK-9 that I've been using a lot, and the coating has just worn smoother in spots. Still not to the point that I'm thinking about stripping it, however.

I received my two sets of Micarta handles from Tom (Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop) and of course quickly found out that the stock screws were to short, like you mentioned. I ran to Lowes and bought some 10-24 x 3/4" SS Cap Screws & matching nuts. The screws that Tom sent, I think were 10-32 but Lowes did not have those, and to short for the Brute.

The 3/4" length extends 1-2 mm past the nut (maybe 1 thread). Does not feel bad though.

Thanks for the handles Tom. I ordered them this past Wednesday and recieved them this morning! You cannot beat that! Thanks again. :D
