I notice that things here on the BK&T forum seem to work in cycles. One week the Machax is all anyone can talk about, another it's the tweeners. The BK5 usually makes the rounds, and even the BK3 will have spells of popularity and interest. The BK9 is always getting in the spotlight... you see my point.
Well, it already seems to be happening, so I wanted to take a moment and officially declare this week BK7 week! Yes, it is a Federal holiday. Be sure to remind your boss that you will not be coming in and that you are to be paid. Show this baby the love that it deserves. Pics? Mods? Stories?
I'll start with my baby. My BK7 lives in my nightstand. It's helped out a bit in the past. Last night, I took her out, filed some little chips out of the edge, took Myker's Dremel to the spine for some clean up, and slapped a few coats of Birchwood Casey Super Blue on her. This was my first time working with the stuff, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Frankly, I'm not a fan on for the forced food patinas, nor etching. Yes, I striped this and a few other Beckers, but I've lately grown nostalgic for the black coating, and I think the blue looks awesome. The camera really doesn't pick up the beauty of it, and it looks worn where the grind begins, but I find the coat to be really lovely. As of right now, the knife has no edge on it at all because of the filing, but that will change soon.
And what do we have here? A BK7 in the stock sheath, unsnapped, being held upside down with no rattle? Pure sorcery.
