BK7 or BK9?

The 7 is awesome, man. I understand why people like the 9, I've got one and love it myself, but don't discount the 7. Lighter, faster in the hand, and a really cool design. I prefer the longer clip and the better point that results from it, too. Chops quite well, actually. I went camping a week ago with a BK16 and a neck knife, and was wishing I had brought the BK7 instead.

Really, the only benefit to the extra length and weight of the BK9 is if you're chopping a lot. Also note that both have the same, extremely awesome sheath :D

Thanks for the SxS pics, the 7 looks really small next to the 9. I may just do the 7. It kinda reminds me of a VERY stout Ka-Bar.

My son really loves his BK7, but yow - BK9!

Beckerhead #42

Does anyone know what Mr. Becker's thoughts are on these two models?

Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember reading that Mr. Becker created the 7 to fall within military blade length requirements, but would pick the 9 if given the choice.

I think you'd be better equipped with the 9 and a neck knife/ SAK than with the 7 alone.

Seriously though, consider the 5. Clich brings it up every time for a reason, a good reason. It's an awesome and versitile blade.

I would say the BK9 for chopping which is what I have started using mine for. On the flip side it also does a great job on cutting up a whole chicken also! The next step down for me would be something smaller than a BK7. I already have a Swamp Rat RMD that I never use.

That's pretty much exactly what the 7 was designed to be. Personally, I have both, and if I had to choose between them... I would take the 9 hands down.

Im just so torn! Ive seen a few Beckers with rubber(?) on the handles, what is this?

Ranger bands or inner-tubing add grippage. You may not want the 9. It's a lot of knife to handle and really best suited for champion choppers. Trying a little reverse psychology to tip the scale :D

Yeah, I heard you can only buy a 9 if you have really big man parts and you date attractive women. Ethan supposedly designed the 7 for girly men :D

Damn, I keep getting beat to the good ones. :grumpy:

Eh, i'm going to use it anyways, double sig worthy.

Just clicked the BUY NOW button for a BK9 on Amazon!!!! Hopefully this will contribute to the OP's decision. Didn't feel like this was worthy of it's own new thread, but will definitely post pics upon arrival. This will bring my Becker collection up to:
BK2
BK14
FPR BK16
BK9

I know, I know, measly. But I am blading on a budget over here.

Hey clich, what should I buy next? Haha.

These are exactly the same knives i have in mine. Good choice on the 9 It kicks ass.

I would have to say at the moment the 9 and the 16 are my two favorite knives.

Guess we have similar tastes Nsvens89! I am super excited at get my hands on the 9 and using the 'free super saver shipping' isn't going to help, though I usually end up getting my stuff faster than expected with that shipping method.

Hmm...what is the first mod going to be...to strip or not to strip?
