BK7 Re-Handle — Buckeye Burl

It's a fairly soft wood, as I can attest from all the shaping and sanding. Most people stabilize it for that reason. But then you'd never get those colors from the oil soaking in.

I'm glad you all like it! I've done a couple Beckers in a similar manner, and it's always a fun project. Especially when it's a collaboration. :)

If anyone would like to try one on their own, feel free to message me. I have a few tips to share.

Outstanding !

In honor of the Masters a "Golf clap" ..... Clap, clap, clap, clap (LOL)

Very nice. Who would have believed that a Becker could be good looking and useful? Sorry Ethan, I couldn't resist.

May take you up on that this summer once I graduate and get back to some better tools for the job.

that is how it's done right there! Straight class! I like how he omitted the middle hole, really cleans up the lines, possibly a lil more comfy on the palm too, yes?

That was my first thought as well, brother thrill. Eliminating the middle hole allows the patterns in the wood to dominate. I'm going to do the same when I do my cocobolo handles.

I think that's the one and only detail Samael and I didn't discuss at length on this project. I elected to omit the middle bolt for several reasons:
A) It serves no real mechanical purpose. If two bolts don't hold the scales on, there's something seriously wrong.
B) Eliminating it makes for a smoother feel in the palm.
C) It's extra work. By the time you get done inletting two hex-shaped holes for the nuts by hand... a third one doesn't sound like much fun :D
D) It just looks better without the middle bolt. Lots of cool contours and figure going on there :)

No, we didn't discuss it, and now I demand a refund!

Seriously, you done good, for all the reasons you listed.

I agree with all that. But then again, Im not a reliable witness LMAO

Only difference I would make... is when I redo Becker handles, I put the Hex side on the inside and the ''prettier'' round bolt head on the outside or ''dress'' side. (if ur right handed of course)

I dont understand why they are made that way factory.

*didnt mean it bad, but after thought I cld see where it mite be taken poorly. Was not a complaint, I love the things, Would be proud to own them, great idea, great craftsmanship. I just have a hangup on a tiny detail that evidently Im the only one who notices LOL
