Its true, in the link that I provided of the broken bk9 id found, it is mentioned a few times that particularly the Camillus made bk9's were for some reason more likely to break there. Part of the roll stamping process. You will notice looking at most of those photos, that almost all of them broke about a quarter of an inch in front of the thumb ramp (where the roll stamp ends), which makes me believe that the radiused end of the thumb ramp is not creating a stress riser right at the end. Although, to be fair, id prefer mine without the ramp, as i never use the thing

Becker has been user laser engraving for... The past year at least. I'd be interested in finding out if the number of "warranty returns" or whatever they call it has changed at all since then. And even still, with how many bk9's that are out there, finding evidence of 4-5 that have broken still leaves the likelihood of breakage way down in the 1 out of many thousands.
But good point, any and all knives can break. The bk9 is not some mystical knife, it's just a good design with a good warranty and price point.
And I just wanted to point out how the skeletonized handles weren't a problem on those knives

Now that the weather is clearing up (some at least), hopefully the OP can get out and use it some. Its hard to have a brand new knife, with nothing to really use it on
