They make it appear as if these are made in the USA. I am just guessing this is the usual imported junk. However these are rather pricey then. Could anyone take a wild guess please?

I am not a new collector. In fact I have an extensive collection of high end knives. I was just curious about this. If these are indeed custom made in the USA than they are in fact a true bargain. Something tells me these do not stack up against a Marfione for instance. I tried the search, nothing came up. If anyone would have a look I would appreciate it. Thank you

Something is off I would guess assembled in USA is the best one might hope for. Just an FYI you are not supposed to link to any non supporting vendor/maker on these forums.

Mods, please remove link. I apologize. Interesting. He is taking custom orders. One post said he had 200 knives ready in 60 days. Some of his knives are a lot of money. This does not add up. Right now he is "making" a custom knife for someone that is not cheap. Apparently people have actually seen his shop. This is very odd indeed.

Looks like Pakistani junk

this

If it's too good to be true...
In a damascus thread someone said domestic billet is around $20 an inch minimum.
Prices seem off for domestic custom, more in line with former Eastern Bloc/Far East makers.

It most certainly does! Here is the thing though. The Damascus actually has a pattern like Devin Thomas. It is not the typical Pakistani scribble stuff that we see. Plus some of these are a lot of money. If it is in fact Pakistani this guy is really ripping people off then. Those knives are usually very inexpensive. Plus factor in the likes of Benchmade and Chris Reeve are made in USA but they do not look like that. These look just like every other Pakistani knife. Save for the patterned Damascus and he takes 1 off orders. This really does baffle me. The guys last name is not Pakistani so I would not gather he has some special connection over there. I am guessing that it is but how he is doing this I am really not sure. The other Pakistani knives what you see is what you get. I will tell you one thing, I would not dare order one of these. I want someone else to be the fall guy! One thing does give it away though perhaps. The weights of the folders. Take a comparable custom knife might weigh at least an ounce or more less. Some customs do weigh that much but they have a larger blade then.
A knife with a 3" blade at 5 ounces and look how thick it is. I think that may be the tell tale. If this is the case this guy is outright robbing people.

My current EDC is a nice William Henry Kestrel That weighs less than 2 ounces. Of course my Hanko flashlight kind of negates the weight savings. I am just saying this interested me but I have no interest in losing my money.

You can buy semi finished damascus blades from online suppliers for less than $10, japanese made for around $60 and various blanks for less than $60

Zulus, I am not sure what you mean? I do not own one. I was just interested in them. If it is in fact American it is really a bargain. If it is Pakistani it is an absolute ripoff. That is what I am trying to figure out. Do you know what a Michael Walker like that would go for? He certainly eludes that it is made in Illinois. Other people seem to confirm this. I feel that this reeks of BS. If I am right, these are grossly overpriced.

I wanted to mention I am glad that you folks accepted me as I knew what I was doing and not as a newbie. I just never felt the need to sign up here. I have searched the forums sometimes.
I do think that these are Pakistani . If I am correct his prices are way out of line. The only thing I do not get is he does take custom orders. Plus some of the Damascus is actual rain drop pattern. Not the typical nonsense you see out of Pakistan. I am guessing this guy has connections there. How I may never know. In fact I was not even aware they could make actual patterned Damascus. So this is indeed odd.

Oh, I do not think he makes N690? Not sure. I think you want M390 anyways or S110V. Well, you might not find S110V so S90V. I probably would not get the Black Mamba unless i debunk this. Get a brand name such as Benchmade or spyderco.

Looks like run of the mill Pakistani 'carpmascus.'
Company blurb and obfuscation much in the style of the scumbags behind Perkin Knives.

You can edit your own post and remove link (and you should).
Bottom left hand corner.

Well this is very interesting. I just heard from him. He provided his phone number and business address. He states that they are hand made from start to finish in Illinois northern Suburbs. He further said If I am nearby or plan to travel there any time I am welcome to stop by during business hours and observe the knives being made!

I just happen to live in Chicago! So this is going to be quite interesting. I really do not think he would put himself on the line like that if it were not true. Apparently these are in fact not made in Pakistan after all! To be sure I am going to take him up on his offer on Monday. Although I just do not think he would be that stupid.

So, once I confirm that this is true. If they are of very good quality. Then these are an absolute incredible bargain. The jury is out as of now. I will report back on Monday. In fact Perhaps maybe he has something I can pick out on the spot. Assuming that it is true of course.

The jury is out as of now. I will report back on Monday.

Browsing through the inventory, the majority looks to be of Pakistani origin.

The jury is not out at all - many knives like these have been posted here before. The result is always the same.

The blurb is right out of the Perkin Knives playbook. An absolute scumbag company, who first claimed their Pakistani garbage knives were made in the UK, then in the EU, then 'outside the UK.' What the current Perkin lie is, I dont know.

What I do know, is that they sell knife-like objects for the gullible.

Most of the horrid Mamba knives look like the Perkin garbage 'knives.'

There is one born every minute....

I am thinking about this. Might not be worth my gasoline. These prices if indeed made here. Setting the bar pretty low. how do they eat? I am guessing something with the quality. I know I made a big deal about it. Pakistan actually might have made more sense. I will see how I feel about it Monday. Anyone else that makes a knife that looks like these in America is 10-20x this price. The only answer then is quality. I have no clue. Something tells me that the William Henry I am currently carrying is probably a better knife. For one thing it is multiples of the price. It is certainly not my only knife. It is just office friendly. I would not use an OTF or something. Or even a 3.5" blade. Well What the heck, I do not have to purchase one. I guess I will go check it out. For all I know it is outstanding. Unlikely. Stranger things have happened.

Edit: okay. that is it. i am not going. He probably pulls some Bs that i cannot see the shop or whatever. I am sure this guy is a real dirtbag. just like you say. first of all they seem to have all of 3 employees. They are a small importer.

You should as him for the address of his shop. That would be interesting. :)

Maybe offer the "maker's" contact information to any other Chicago/Illinois area members who might live right next door and be willing to check it out? I would if I didn't live four states away.

This guy needs to be outed or we need to start buying these 5 star beauties.

He gave me the address. I am only 30 miles away. I have a good feeling this is not even worth my gasoline. We all know these are not being made there with three employees. When he said he supplied 200 knives in a 60 day time frame. It is correct that this is the same deal as Perkin. What gets me about these companies is the pricing. Most of these knives are dirt cheap at least. This guy is charging up to half a grand. Plus that specific knife looked like crud to me. It was also 9 ounces for a 3 inch folder. This is honestly not worth my time. I do not mean to brag but I have some very nice knives. I do not need to waste time with this. This honestly interested me because I thought it was American. You folks have convinced me otherwise. I really appreciate those of you that did so. I came here solely because I knew I could get the straight answer.

Now that I am a member I will try to repay the favor and answer someone else's question. Thank you all for helping me.
