Black Mamba Knives country of origin?

The cheap ones are 100% made in Pakistan. The much more expensive ones I believe are made in America by Bear and Son. They are certainly made in USA(the more expensive ones). I am just not 100% sure that it is Bear and Son. I am Reasonably Sure that it is however. Bear and Son for a bill to a few bills that nice is not a bad deal really. I mean Buck sells made in USA knives for twenty bucks(no pun intended). I do not live far from him either. The thing about him is you can call him any time(within reason) and he always answers. You would think he would be hiding. He does tell stories but so be it. You either believe it or you don't. Trust me. I researched him profusely. What for? I am not really sure. Especially with no intention to purchase anything. I just do not like misrepresentations.

That is correct. He is a native of Poland. I can tell first by his last name. However that he is an immigrant though by his thick accent. I certainly hope no one is racist? I came to the US long ago from Germany. So long ago I do not have an accent and speak very good English. Therefore however I am understanding of other people. I imagine you were guessing he was Pakistani but not the case. He is actually rather cordial. He seems to tell "tall tales". Some people just do that. Perhaps he is just insecure. Something interesting. The address on his website is his home. It is a tiny home. Yet you would not believe what it's value is. the Northwest suburbs are expensive. I live in a good part of the city and it is not cheap by any means. It certainly was when we purchased it in the 1960's. We made a good investment but we have no intentions of moving.

That being said. I thought after all I may visit him. If one of the American knives is indeed very nice perhaps I will bite. The truth is it is difficult to get a knife like this for a few bills. He said it has a serialized COA. I understand that can be forged. The thing is I have checked this guy out already like I was a detective. Quite frankly he did not even deserve that. I really hope he is not reading this. Since when I visit him He may not be so nice all of the sudden. He does not make any knives himself. That is a given. I just wish I could for certain nail it down to Bear and son. I am reasonably sure though. Of course Bear and Son would never divulge this information to me. If you think about it there is really no one else it could be. Who is an American knife maker that produces cheap Damascus? Alabama Damascus is not entirely bad either really. Not for the price at least. It does stand true that many of his knives are obviously from Pakistan. I also do not completely hate those knives so long as one pays 20 smackers. I see them on the big E-commerce site for hundreds. That to me is fraud.

I do apologize that I have been so "passionate" about this. As I stated, misrepresentation is a very big deal to me. I would not be one to mix the American knives with the Pakistani ones. Without any clarification. In fact nothing on his site states made in USA. It just hits home because it is literally in my backyard.

So I met him and I purchased a knife after all. Go figure. First of all. His Pakistani knives are the best examples of such that I ever seen I feel that he is not out to rip people off. The Pakistani knives come in a plain box that says nothing. The American knives come in a wooden box that states "Made in USA " He is actually honest. I feel either is a good value respectively. The knife I got is very nice. It is certainly not a top notch knife however. I would say it would sell for 3.5x it's price if it were a name brand though. I obviously did not bother asking him whom makes them. I think I know though. As I have stated. All I can say is it is a nice knife. To figure I bashed this guy. Judging by his digs, if this is his sole income he is doing very well at it. If he was so terrible he would be long gone by now. I am pleased with this knife. Unfortunately I do not have a phone or camera. I can point you to it on his website if you wish though. I will not link it but rather state the part #. If anyone has any interest in this thread any longer. The only downside to me is that it is not stainless. He said that he would keep it oiled with a film oil. I hope that no one feels that I have hi-jacked my own thread. I just figured I would make known the conclusion to this story.

So you post a thread asking about country of origins and it turns out that you personally know the seller, have visited with him and are intimately familiar with his operation. What does that make you?

Where ever they are made, he is still misrepresenting the origins of his knives, most of which are grossly overpriced and imported Pakistani junk. I would give Black Mamba Knives a great big pass. There are way too many honest knife makers out there for me to give my money to this guy.

No. You misunderstood. I just met him for the first time yesterday. I felt that his Pakistani knives did indeed look much better than other Pakistani knives I have seen. I have not seen many and I was there briefly. I bought one of his USA "custom made" knives. I researched the heck out of him. It is indeed made by I believe Bear and Son. It is no secret that they do make custom knives for other people in quantity. Why would you say that not2sharp? That was not nice. It was not the case to begin with. Plus to insinuate that about me is just not very nice. Actually he was a nice guy. He does not speak great English though. I certainly do not hold that against him.

He never stated that the Pakistani ones are made in the USA. He simply did not say. On the other hand, he did not state that the made in USA ones in fact are made in the USA either. To me, it was obvious who made them. Please don't be mad at me. i did not do what you think I did. I met him for the first time yesterday. I figured after all of this speculation I might as well go and see the actual products in question. That is all.In fact, others here encouraged me to do so. Indeed I purchased a USA one and quite frankly I am pleased with it. Is it a Michael walker? Of course not. I feel that it was a good value nonetheless.

Well, for me this is a helluva disappointment. A couple of weeks of stomping on the guy's integrity, bad mouthing his honesty, and telling us he is ripping people off... come on. You were so sure he was a con and a thief that misrepresented his product that you talked yourself out of meeting him since you decided he would lie to you to your face. So a liar, too! You made a whole thread, many times arguing with yourself about what a disreputable fraud this guy is based on your exhaustive research. (No doubt countless Google searches and questions to a lot of people like you that are "in the know".)

And now you find that after so many posts of burning his reputation, calling him a liar, calling him out as a con that misrepresents his products (how dare he not tell you who is making his knives for him... maybe he didn't know you were a self appointed internet knife sleuth!) barking that he charges too much for his products, that he won't satisfy your personal demands of knowing where and who originate his blades, and on and on and on...

Only to crawl away AFTER you bothered to get your facts straight? Why ruin a good story with facts? After all, this man did nothing to you and you painted him with a really dirty brush in front of possibly many tens of thousands of clients. Well done! I think you should keep making up crap about him based on your opinion and personal "research". It was a lot more entertaining to read. No doubt you could do more damage to him if you would just put out the same amount of effort you did when you first started posting about him.

And surely after all that effort with your obsession to ruin him and his company that was based on nothing but internet observation you can't be interested in protecting his reputation now. I want more detecting and another chapter of outrage for this drama.

Some open minded people suggested that I go check him out. I did just that. I maintain that his knives are by no means top quality. They are okay. I felt that the American one was a good value. It is still far from anything special. The Pakistani ones I said looked better than some other Pakistani ones to me. I am no expert on those. However they were still not nearly great. He blankets the entire thing with Black Mamba Knives USA because he is located in the USA. That may be misleading to some. Your call. Don't be so quick to rat me out. It was at the bequest of others here that I go check it out. I purchased the knife more out of curiosity than anything else. It is certainly not going to ever be my EDC. I too would would agree with not2sharp except he had the part regarding myself wrong. I have not known him secretly all along. I met him for the first time Sunday. Some of you will direct your upset at whom ever is available. I have not done the things some of you accuse me of. Everything I said herein still holds true. In fact many others still tend to agree. I am not the traitor you think I am.

Most of the Pakistani damascus is usually not heat treated properly ( if at all). I've bought a few in the past as decorative pieces.
There's a youtube video of a knife maker trying to heat treat a Pakistani damascus blade and it disintegrates into ash.

If you want an inexpensive damascus knife , Bear and Sons makes a few using Alabama damascus.
They're not high end , but they will function as a knife.
I got this one for under $150.

I am reasonably sure that Bear and Son are the manufacturer of his USA made knives in fact. That is why I say across the board at best none of his knives are anything special. At worst they are pretty bad. I have honestly not changed my stance. I went and checked it out as several people suggested, That is all. FYI, there was no knife making equipment in sight. He quite obviously does not make any knives. I actually do not think Bear and Son is bad. Of course I would not say it is good either. Pakistan is Pakistan. Even the "better" of it is not saying much. It is junk. To say USA because they are "sold" in the USA is in fact misleading IMO. As you see, I have not changed my stance on the subject. Some of you have misread me lately. I met the joker. That is all. It did not change a thing.

jpd1998, That is actually a nice looking knife. However you can pick those up under $80 often times. Still, I feel that is worth $150.

It scratched in my pocket in a few days with other metal objects. to be fair, a much more expensive knife is likely to be even softer. So that is no fault of the manufacturer. I just figured i would be honest. It was in fact made to be holstered or clipped. One thing rings true, it is much too light at under 2oz to be Pakistani. Plenty of them are however. I just wish he would say "imported" or something at least. I mean the guy let's me come to his home so he could not be that shady.

My son bought one from this guy for me. It is not a quality knife and not worth what he paid. The website has a bunch of garbage reviews. This should be illegal. I think he spent 175 for a 25 dollar knife. But I love that he thought he was getting a really good knife for me!
