It looks like I hit 6000 posts... and almost the 10 year mark. So I think it's a good time for a giveaway. This one is for a Case beer trap...You can pick either yeller delrin or bone in your post. On the off chance that supply dries up, I'll give a gift certificate to a BF dealer member store for the amount.

To qualify you need to have atleast 50 posts in traditionals and you must have more posts in the traditionals discussion form than the traditionals exchange forum. Will ship anywhere in the world that can legally receive the knife. I may need some guidance for international shipment.

To enter, please post your choice of cover material and post a photo or description of what traditional knife(knives) were your favorite(s) 10 years ago. If you are new to traditionals then what was your first traditional knife. My first was a Swiss army knife that was given to me by my grandfather at age 6. Back 10 years ago my most carried knives were a Schrade 8OT and alox Victorinox Soldier.

A most excellent GAW, thank you Jake. Case yellow delrin always makes me feel like a kid again. My dad used to keep a yellow delrin case fish knife in the tackle box. It was one of the first knives that I remember seeing him use.

My first slippy was a victorinox farmer given to me by my father. Unfortunately, like my dad's fish knife, it was lost years ago but I always have a farmer in my stable.

If selected I would prefer the bone covers...

Ten years ago I would have only been carrying modern knives, but if we go back much farther then that maybe 40 years ago the first knife I ever bought with my own money was a SAK pocket pal. I loved that knife. I had a two blade small knife from my grandfather before that but could not really open it. The SAK was easy to open and carry everywhere I went. I remember buying it at Gemco in the sporting goods department and I had to go find my mother in the store to tell the guy she did not have a problem with me spending my allowance on it. I have had other tradition knives over the years but until now I mostly carried lock backs and knives with clips when they were introduced into the market.

Sorry about not remembering 10 years ago...

WOW Jake 6000 post and 10 years what milestones. I was just looking at these knives and thinking I really like them and would prefer the bone. I am a fan of the Beer Scout/Soda Scout and Radio Jack. Jake 10 years ago I was a big Buck fan always had a 110 on my tool belt at work but always had a Buck Stockman in my pocket at work or off. Funny that a handful of knives seemed like a lot back then but nowadays 100 knives don't seem like that many. Here's a picture of a 303 Stockman I would have carried then it may even be one I carried back then.

Everybody had a Schrade Old Timer it was made in the USA and pretty affordable. I still pick one up when I run across them at a decent price. Congrats on being an "old timer" here on the forums. :D. I love the looks of the bone covers on that Case. Thanks

I'm fairly new to carrying traditional folders. The first traditional folder I ever carried was my buck 110 and my imperial Barlow from r8shell the first that I really carried full time and got me I to traditionals
My favorite handle material would be stag or jigged bone, so here's my only jigged bone folder

Bottle openers aren't for me, but my grandma would absolutely love this knife and that's exactly who it would go to if I won .
congratulations on the milestone, and thanks for the generous giveaway.

Thanks for the GAW! I'm in for the Yellow. I carried the Sears Rosewood penknife ~10 years ago. If you go even further back, I carried a Buck 305....

I already have a beer trap so no entry. Will share that 10 years ago I had 2 knives, a Victorinox Tinker which came up missing and a Buck 110 which I still have.
Very nice of you to do this GAW, and whoever wins will be getting one fine piece of equipment.

Thanks for the entries. I'm enjoying the photos and discussion. I still use the same knives so I guess I knew what I liked early on. But my choices have grown.

You shouldn't be left out for being an early adopter of bottle cap opening technologies. ;) Anyone who posted photos in the beer trap topic can still enter for the gift certificate.

I have always had a soft spot for Scharade Old Timer stockman. Especially Carbon Stockman.

My first knife was a medium Schrade Oldtimer stockman.

My first is long gone (stolen 25 or so years ago).

I normally go for bone. But I have yet to try Case's yellow derelin, so that would be my choice.

I have always had an interest in knives, though 10 years ago I had just 5 or 6. And the one that never left my pocket since 1994 was my trusty Lag. AndI'd love to try a smooth delrin handle. :)

Congratulations on the milestone Jake, your posts, and the knowledge you bring here are good enough for me my friend, so not an entry please. Great-looking knife though, and a fantastic giveaway. Good luck everyone

Ten years ago, my knives were, Loewen Hippekniep, a fistful of SAKs, a Victorinox Mauser GAK, a fistful of Opinels, a small Anza, and my Tapio Wirkkaala puukko. I guess they were all traditionals, although I did not think of them like that at the time. The puukko was most prized, but my favorite had to be the Opinel No.7.
In for the bone.

Thanks for the gaw. Bone if chosen. First was probably a blue cub scout. 10 years ago some type of sak.

Thanks for the chance. My recent love for beer has grown to the point where a knife like the beer trapper seems necessary. As for which handle cover I'd go with, I'd have to say bone. I like something that ages with me.

10 years ago, my only traditional knives would have been a Victorinox Spartan and Victorinox Soldier. The added utility of the tools pushed my Spyderco Delica out of my pocket for a couple of years. When I left retail, the Delica went back in, but it was always backed up by the Soldier or the Spartan.

I am in for the yellow! Ten years ago, I was enthralled with my grandfather's Old Timer Stockman. I got my first pocket knife, (a Buck 379), nine years ago last Friday, so I had to make do with playing with the old knives in my grandfather's tool chest.

Awesome on 6k man and try for the gaw. I'm in on the bone handled reminds me of when I was a kid.
Ten years ago wow I wasn't into traditionals then carried a benchmade. But my gramps carried one and know knowing what I know I should have been too. So here's my favorite which was his.

I'm in thanks for the gaw! Before finding bf I carried several sak classics for years. I even ordered several hundred once as corporate branded gaw's for the company that I worked for.

Since finding bf I've gone from a colt peanut to Rough Riders mini Barlows and half whittlers. The RR's were like a gateway drug and I started to check out GEC and Northwoods and a few years later I've really gravitated towards Case designs in about a 3.5 inch package.

Although the alox Saks really fit the bill as well.

I'm in thank you.
My father in law gave me his Old Timer just before he passed away, about 12 yrs a go now. Schrade Walden 250T. Still carried during camp trips.
He noticed I always had my trusty SAK Climber with me and wanted me to have a real knife.
