Blackmamba wins Case Beer Trap GAW

Congrats on the the 6000 Jake, and thanks for the chance. My favorite knife 10 years ago was this little BuckLite drop point, as it was the only folder I owned at the time besides my old Ulster scout knife.

I have been lusting after the beer trap as I am a big beer scout fan, but NOT an entry. I have decided no entries until I do my own GAW. I will share though....

10 yrs ago I carried a SAK everyday. A tinker small during the week and a black Alox on the weekends. It has only been the last couple of years that I branched out to other traditionals. Good luck all!

In 2006 all I had was a cheap "aussie made" Toledo (still not sure) buck 110 wannabe work knife. During an internet investigation on how to get it sharpened(it had been lost in storage for a while)I stumbled upon BF.
In a mere matter of months I was hooked on Schrade,Case and GEC among others. 10 years down the track I have a massive collection of pocketknives and better still a spot to perch on the porch:) .
Not an entry but cheers Jake.
ps that ol'toledo now resides here in its retired glory.

Great giveaway! I would prefer bone, but not a big deal. Been carrying a Case stockman since the '70's and it's in my pocket right now.

Count me in! I wasn't into traditionals 10 years ago like I am now, but I did have a few.

This was the first Case knife I bought for myself, a little over 10 years ago.

And one of these two (not sure which) was my first pocket knife, both given to me as a kid (the stockman by my grandpa, and the camp knife by my dad).

Count me in for the bone handle. Ten years ago I could be found carrying one or both of these.

My first knife was given to me in 1973 for my seventh birthday. Ulster BSA knife.

Awesome GAW, thank you very much. I'd love a bone Beer Trap! Great idea for each post. I shouldn't be surprised by how many SAKs started people off but they must me the slipjoint of this generation!

My first real knife was a gift from my Grandpa when I was 12 and took us Smelt dipping in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I used this knife for hunting, hiking, etc. for years until I got other knives and decided I didn't want to lose Grandpa's knife.

Jake, congratulations on your 6000 post, those that I have had the pleasure of reading were both informative and entertaining. I'm glad you've been here 10 years and sincerely hope that you're just getting warmed up for the decades to come. Thanks for the GAW, yellow delrin would suit me should I be so lucky.

Ten years ago I only had 3 knives. I still have all three and use 2 of them today. One of them is a Sabre trapper I bought nearly 40 years ago and carried most days until retiring it a few years back. A second of the three is a Victorinox Huntsman I found 25 years ago and have carried it on virtually every outdoor adventure I been on since finding it. When I thought a trip might require something more substantial the third knife was carried and is pictured below. A Western 5.5" fixed blade I bought in 1973. Those three knives have served me well and probably are all that I actually need. Favorite 10 years ago? Depended on the situation but certainly one of those.

Congrats on 6k. I'm in on the bone handled one for sure

My first real knife

I'm in! My first traditional was a Case Trapper. I don't have a pic of it. But currently my favorite traditional is my #77 clip point!

Congrats SupraT, that's one heck of a lot of posts. Yellow for me. 10 yrs ago I carried an Emerson in one pocket and a smooth oatmeal bone minicopperhead by Case(wharnie) in the other. Or a Dozier on my belt and the same Case. Pick your poison. I've gotta say thanks for all of your insight and knowledge here, in this arena. Your comments have added considerably to an already outstanding place.
Thanks, Neal

Congrats on your long tenure and thanks for the chance on the beer trap.

I'm in, and I'd go for the yellow delrin if I were to win.

10 years ago was this. It is a Vic, in bad light, with the white cross worn off. The white at the end of the handle is an epoxy-putty patch where the celidor had crumbled away.

I'd LOVE a bone-handled beer trap! Thanks so much for the chance.

My memory ain't what it used to be, but 10 years back I would have likely been toting one/all of these babies!

Ten years ago it might have been this one, like so many others, I mostly carried SAKs for about 50 years.

Thank you Jake for great GAW knife.
My preference was always natural material being jigged bone and wood my first choice. These days I carrying JBF Champlin Eureka jack in rosewood, no photos yet.
10 years ago I carried tactical  but one of my first traditional was this knife with Desert iron wood scales.

Not an entry please

Thanks for the chance. I like the bone over the delrin. My favorite handle 10 years ago is the same as it is now. The old weathered stag that Case used from the Tested era up through the 70's was so eye catching. The yellowing and burnt colors in the ridges, that is what pops in my mind when someone says Stag. Not many examples in today's knives that give that warm comfy feeling like the 80 year old Case trapper with chunky stag.

I'm in, and I like that bone! My first traditional was a a Swisschamp that I saved up for when I was about 10 years old (unfortunately more than ten years ago). I have no Idea how I thought I would fit it in my pocket, and over time I lost the tweezers and broke the tip on the main blade.

Im just getting into collecting knives this past year or so but when I was 15 I saw my shop teacher with something very cool and I had to have one. It became my very first knife It was a swiss army knife. I forget the exact model but it had the small magnifying glass with lots of tools but I didn't have pliers so it wasn't a camp version. I believe it was a evolution. Either way I loved that cool knife for a few good years tell I lost it of course. One night when I brought it fishing with some buddys of mine on a trip that had more drinking beer then actual fishing involved lol Thanks for the opportunity. And congratulations on the milestone.

I was wondering if I should enter and I already won a beautiful Case here this year, but the trapper is my favourite pattern but I have no need for the spey blade.

My first knife was this Tinker that my wife bought for me 3 years ago on my birthday... lost it in November, found it in March, it is relegate to shelf queen now so I don;t lose it again.
