BlackNinja, not the best way to respond to offers!

I understand that a few people here are saying it is the fault of SHARPONE for sending an offer and not realizing how low it was.

Firstly Spyderco knives go up and down in value quite a bit.
Lum Chinese a month ago fetched as high as $200, but now have gone for $145 new in box on ebay.
Kopa is truly a beautiful knife and the value depends on the material used on the handle. $75 - $200 NIB in many stores as well as ebay.

This below comments are for everyone as a whole and not directed towards BlackNinja only. :)

Firstly always be polite (You can get much farther in life trying this route)
If you get easily insulted with people sending you offers be very specific on what you want or just don't trade.

ATLEAST PUT DOWN A TRADE VALUE $$$$ So people know what kind of value you place on your knives. My Spyderco Ayoob is worth $90, because thats what I paid for it, but to me it's priceless.

take care

P.s In the words of Russell Peters BE A MAN :D

We aren't allowed to mention any price what-so-ever in trade forums. You are only allowed to post that you have a knife to trade and it's up to people to offer what they feel are comparable trades. All values must be discussed in private.
I had sharpone offer me the same Benchmade in trade for another Benchmade, I had posted to another as a trade (in that person's thread). He did so from a different thread I'd started to try to trade a totally different knife for something he didn't have. I was a little disappointed that, when I Emailed him he was not offering the Spyderco I'd asked for. But he was polite and I treated him with politeness as well! It's no big deal and seems to me if you don't want offered knives in trade, you haven't been put upon so much as to be rude to the person offering. Just say no thanks and be done with it. Next time the same person may have just what you're after.

I didn't realize you couldn't put a trade value. Ignorance isn't an excuse so for that I do apologize.

take care

I sent blackninja an e-mail of what I had to offer. I never received a response. I guess what I was offering wasn't good enough, or he was just too lazy to reciprocate.

there's never any reason to be rude. a simple "thanks for your offer, but I'll pass", is just as easy as writing all that extra bits. I agree some people like to throw their weight around, like they're the only knife collectors who know about knives. but there are many many nicer people on BF, so all you need to do is stay away from those rude buggers.

i always try and be nice about things but some folks get antsy when they are low balled, ya gotta know the ball park figures before ya start swapping imho.

of course ya should always try and be polite........

I beleive standard "I'm interested in higher-end knives, tnx for your offer anyway" would do in your case. I also don't see anything wrong offering something inexpensive + money (except of that is probably means skirting forum laws, hehe)
