This may have been part of an old stove. Marked Coalbrookdale.

I'll have it framed so I can hang it on my wall.

Very nice !! That type of thing could be copied and sold , either out of cast iron or some synthetic material.

Awesome!!!
That would be perfect for someone with a router copier! Where did you find that Wulf?

Thanks for the link Kevin - interesting stuff.

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I bought this thing on eBay. And I probably overpaid for it but I don't care. :)

Mete, can you point me in a direction? I wouldn't know who to ask...

Matt, most likely on a wall somewhere. Exactly where? well, I'm gonna have to clear it with the boss first.

That is my kind of artwork. Very Cool! I also think you should reproduce it in something lightweight for framing. I would buy one too.

Wulf , no I can't .Probably the best would be to make it out of resins as many figurines are made . Cast iron would be very expensive.I don't know the size of the original but one 10" wide at least would be great to show the detail. You could Google 'resin figurine makers " or similar.

Make a plaster negative of it, spray the plaster cast with mold release and then pour polyester resin in layers with some fiberglass mat. Spray with some "stove" black paint when all cured up. :D

Wulf, that is absoutely beautiful

Please, I don't mean to take away from your post in any way. I just want to share a similar object I found in the middle of the woods while metal detecting. I think it was also part of a stove but, initially upon finding it, thought it was something else. I bet you can guess what I thought. FWIW, I covered it back up and its still there.

Yeaaa....I would have walked away also.

To make a reusable mold, use RTV mold compound. You coat the piece in a good layer of RTV, and build it up with cloth/wood strips/etc. as needed. Peal off the mold and you have a reusable mold that can make hundreds of poured copies. You can pour the mold with plaster or resin. If you take the piece to a ceramics shop, they probably could make the mold, and make ceramic copies. Fired and glazed, it might look very muck like the original.

If you are interested in making reproductions, and can't find anyone near you, send me an email.

That is a cool ebay find....If nothing else you could get a high quality picture of it and have prints made so all your buddies could get a poster for the shop from you...I also think it would be a great piece casted in resin. Here is a idea, add a small flat on the bottom or top when recasting then add a clock kit to it and that way it would make a cool shop clock....

David,That was a cool fing also, would make a cool dorr stop in the shop...
