The 0454 proto is 4 and 1/4 inch blade with cpm-d2 shown and 14c sandwiched. By the way you can't quote that because its a proto and subject to change so there :p

Blade show location from our hotel. The parking deck is packed.

I am no expert but CPM D2 isn't just D2. I would guess its like comparing 154 CM and CPM 154. That being said, being a proto, there is no way to tell what they are going to use in the final offering. It is a beautiful knife that I am sure is very tough but it may be just the thing ZT needs to address the "I want a ZT that isn't so beefy" crowd.

Yes, but all Kershaws with D2 use CPM D2. I view it as notably lower quality than the S30V. Now, throw on the 3V tool steel (that the 0100) uses, or something more badbum like 10V or T4. Though that would probably put the price up in the high 300's to low 400's. Though that is my problem, I don't want to see them hold anything back for "cost efficiency." I want stuff like the 0777, go big or go home!

I just hope that back section (the spine DLC) isn't D2, as there is no reason for that.

I hope that if they decide to go different, they make a big and a small. Like a 4.25 in and a 3.25 in, heck make a 2.25 in for those that want it, just don't take away the 4.25 in option.

The 0801CF is my favorite especially with the steel they are offering on the proto!

Ore_Ele, I will ask that you do not complain about steels in this thread. It is what is, so get over it :)
This thread is for photos and talking about the new stuff and all things Kai at blade, Thank you.

Also on a side note, do they have any kitchen knives? Shun has taken home that award for something like the last 187 years.

Rexford collab. PVD Ti, M390 blade.

HOLY $#!^ That looks awesome? I would contemplate selling my Left... Uh. My sebenza 25 to fund that purchase. TI, CF AND M390 (arguably one of the best stainless steels ever:)) I loved the pics of the 0801 but that is killer. Great job KAI!

That 560BW could very well persuade me to buy another 560.
And like the carbon 0770 even more, and more than the standard 0770. I wonder how long before THAT will be available? Will probably get both versions if they are spread enough apart in time.

That's it. I must get that Rexford. I'm going to write it 3 times on my wishlist.

Checking up on this thread every half an hour or so. I'm definitely smiling more than I normally would at work :D

That new 0770 is awesome! Now it really is a mini 0777

Depending on the price, I might bypass the first gen 0770 and get the 0770CF (didn't look like it had the CF on the blade, but that might just be because it was a proto). The Al handles were the only thing I didn't care for on the 0770, so I'm very happy about that (unless it is going to be a limited run like the 0560CBCF, in which case I probably won't be able to get it).

The color on the 0801CF is called copperhead. those pics don't do it justice!
