Blade 2013 thread! (KAI related)

Is the 0454 larger than the 0600?
I need pics of them next to each other...............please?

I second that request. Pretty please with sugar on top.

Looks like both the 0600 and 0454 have very similar dimensions: 4.25" blade, about 9.5" overall open with the 0454 somewhat slimmer of the two.

I'll take one each :D

Just wow!!!! Thanks all for sharing the awesomeness that is KAI! Haven't seen the competition but from the looks of things a few awards might be headed KAI's way again this year. :) Makes me sad that I haven't gone to Blade yet, must make it a priority in the future, so thanks again for sharing a glimmer with us.

Is the 0770cf assisted or non assisted?

I'm liking the trend of left and right pivot screws that are actually screws. This makes taking the knife apart a lot easier.

Call this sacrilegious, but I'm already thinking of how to mod the 0770cf. I would CNC machine titanium scales to replace the carbon fiber. I would also reposition the pocket clip and make it integral with a backspacer (possibly also out of titanium).

Lastly, was it answered if the 0770cf would be a regular production run?

The 0770CF is assisted, but it has a detent hole so you'll be able to de-assist it if you want to. The 0770CF will also be a regular production piece.

Great that it will be a production piece. Any idea of price?

Regarding the detent hole, I believe the 0350 also has a detent hole. Removing the torsion bar on the 0350 when I owned it didn't do much to retain the blade. It took minimal effort for the blade to come lose. I guess I'll keep the torsion bar in place if it doesn't have a strong retention without the bar.

On the ZT website they still have the 0770 listed with aluminum scales with MSRP of $180 (MAP of $144). However, it's quite probable that with CF scales those prices may rise. We'll have to wait for updates from ZT sometime after the Blade Show.

I was never a fan of ZT because of their big bulky tactical knives. That changed with the introduction of the 0560 and 0777. A representative of ZT said that the brand is shifting and I can see that. ZT is now one of my favourite companies.

I'm lovin all of their new designs. The 0801CF,0454 and 0560BW are on my list.

I'm glad I didn't get that 0560 because a 0560BW definitely WILL BE MINE!!!

I actually liked the aluminum scales on the 770:( but the 801 is looking good, Think I need one of them. and the blackwash 560 is hot as hell.

I'm just getting tired of assisted knives. LEOS here aren't too keen on differentiating between assisted opening and automatics.

Frankly, I don't think flippers actually need assist mechanisms, but that is neither here, nor there. And, I totally understand how ZT basically has the assisted opening flipper market cornered. I just wish they would offer a few more knives for the people preferring non-assisted knives.

That said, I'm still looking forward to getting an 0770cf and tinkering with it. It will be my first knife in a long time. I currently don't own any anymore.

I'm glad my fellow knife-knuts are having fun :D

My apololgies for requesting photos of other knives, I accessed the thread from the main page and did not see what subforum it was posted in. There are certainly some nice knives being shown so far.

The new ZT offerings are amazing. Hopefully won't take too long to be released. The 0801 is insane.

This maybe a stupid question but is there any other new kershaws or ZTs that we havent seen yet from blade? im more than happy with what ive seen just want more!!!!!

Thank you guys so much for the pics of all who went! I have 2 surgeries this coming friday, and due to health + finances just cannot/could not go =[ . So the pictures are really much appreciated! Albeit my envy bar started to rise lol. That 801cf , as with everyone has caught my attention. Not as hard as the 0777 got mine years ago [and still has a hold, baby wont let you go till your in my hands one day!!], but I will definitely have to try and get on a list when they start popping up [hopefully they wont all be snatched up while im in the hospital x.x talk about multiple whammys lol]. KAI keeps striking while the irons hot :p Have a safe trip you all!

This thread is not for politics or opinions. Lets keep on track with the kershaw, ZT, and Shun goodness.

I will allow pics fom other manufactures at blade. If you guys need other pics and have that many requests you might need to make a new thread in general.

The posting of the 0801CF every other post doesn't help my delirium tremors people!
