Blade centering, how important is it to you?

An example of knife that is grossly off center because of how the blade was grinded.A Meyerco/DDr Maxx Q came in a clam shell and because of cost was kept.

Very important. It just shows the attention (poor...) brought to the whole machining / assembly process. And I'm not fussing about 0.100" left or right. If it sticks in your face, it's off and rejectable.

If its not rubbing its usable but like others I see centering as a visible sign of attention to detail and quality control.

I have a 940 that's just a hair off and it does irk me a little when I have other cheaper knives with perfect centering and fit and finish, but it's not enough to make me ditch the knife.

we all will say a little doesnt bother us but deep down inside just a hair off does bother but life goes bigger fish to fry. i just cant stand it when pivot screw. enough tighten makes it off center and too loosen make it centered. centering hit or miss.

I like a centered knife. If it's not centered to my liking, I'll take apart the knife and correct it.

I’m more likely to wear a pair of underwear for three consecutive days than I am to carry a knife whose blade centering is off.

On the other hand, lots of people say they are bothered by necro posting, but deep down I don't think anyone really cares. 😅;)
On one hand, we have folks that disapprove of necroposting. On the other hand, we have folks that kindly remind us of the existence of the search function, citing the 5 million other threads posted 75 million years ago covering the same topic.

Together, these two opposing forces bring balance to the universe.

Back on topic, slightly off-centered is functionally fine. Perfectly centered is nice to have, and should be the standard for higher-end knives. Grazing the scales off-centered is unacceptable.

Personally, I have severe OCD about the blade centering. If its off even a little, and can't be corrected, I sell it. I've got pretty good at centering them myself though. I know there is no logical or performance based benefit to this but I have spent thousands of dollars on many high end knives and they are all centered, so why should I compromise now?

To me, centering is an indication of quality control by the maker, but I've been wrong before.
