Ok,
I figured to make sure i get the best response by everyone interested i would start this thread again.
What does everybody want? From this thread, we will determine what the knife will be.
Remember, No on titanium sides or stag inlays for reasons outlines in the last thread. I really appreciate everyones willingness to "go with the concensus", and i hope we will reach one!
Have fun!

Definitely a BG42 blade! I would go for a small lockback like the model 532, or maybe the lockback a little smaller than that one. I dont know the model number of that one. This way, more people can actually carry and use these knives.

First lets decide on which knife it will be, we can worry about the specifics after we have chosen a knife. So far it looks like a 110, 112, 501 or a 532. I'll vote for the 501 and my second choice is the 532. Think about it, how many BG-42 501's are there out there? To my knowledge just the MS knives. The 501 fits nicely in your pocket with no need for a clip. For know that is my choice. With all the choices being good ones, I'll probably want something different in the next ten minutes.

Joe,
Here is my idea: BG-42 and pocket clip seem to be most desired for those who want to use the knife. The Lightning HTA II fits that description if the BG-42 blade is used. Now, how about a novel approach. Use the same technology incorporated on the special edition Artist Series and instead of a wildlife scene, anodize some sort of combination of the Buck and Blade Forum logos. I am sure the talented and creative people at Buck could come up with something that is tastefully done.
This would really set the knife apart as being inspired by this website and provide a great using knife. The next decision would be whether to use a partial serration or not.
I am neutral on that.

Okay, here goes. Either a 501 or 532, in any style BG-42 should be the blade steel. (what those guys did with the 532 2000 series is superb!). Lets have the nickle silver bolsters as on the master series, a little file work like on the 532's, but with a different twist on the slabs. Why not something ivory-like? Why? Because, one could then contract to have their own personal knife scrimshawed, etc. (heck this would be the ideal place to put all that dedication stuff that you would normally stamp on a blade) Depending on the style, may not need NO STINKIN' CLIPS. Just my thought.

A 532, 500, 501.....whatever! Just NOT another 110! I have enough of those! I`ll second the BG-42 and really liked the chequered handles on the Master Series.

How about a 501 with BG-42, a blue check handle and a BF logo on the handle, medallion-style, like the Master series?

I`d buy two!

This is great! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks,

Let me add another voice in support of the 532 with a BG-42 blade, no serrations. I'd like to see a serialized run. Let's see if we can agree first on basic model and blade steel, then start on the specifics of handle materials.

Joe,

My idea is something like this:
#1- #500 Duke
biggrin.gif
#2- #112 #3- 532
Blade- BG 42 steel plain edge.
Bolsters- Nickel Silver.
Handle- no rivets,checkered blue diamondwood
no finger grooves.
Serial numbered - 01/?, 02/? ect.
Bladeforums logo on the blade.
No clip, anyone of these knives would fit nicely in the pocket. All things considering,
I haven't heard a bad idea yet

. I'll go with whatever the general consensus ends up being. Thanks Joe

Either the 500, 501, or 532 (500 top choice), file work, nickel/silver bolsters, some type of natural handle scales (bone, horn, elk antler... I'm assuming the "no stag" means sambar stag). BG42 blade.

Oh yeaahhh....

Joe, I vote for anything that will carry comfortably in a suit pants pocket, and not scare everyone in the office if it is actually used during work hours.

Extras would be ivory scales [there MUST be an old piano sitting around at Buck somewhere!]and filework.

Serial numbered limited edition would also be good

How about a 532 (or 501) with micarta scales, checkered like the MS knives, or maybe jigged buffalo horn. Checkered diamond wood would also be okay. NO POCKET CLIP and NO SERRATIONS! How about either a leather pocket pouch or a cordura belt sheath that can be carried horizontally or vertically (just add two extra straps to a regular sheath to enable it to be carried horizontally). The blade should be BG-42 maybe with a satin finish and "www.BladeForums.com" nicely etched onto the blade.

Since it appears that pocketclips are not wanted, I would cast my vote for a 501 with smooth polished Asian water buffalo inlays. The only downside to this is that I doubt if BG-42 steel is still available for the 501 blade. However, it was used on the 501 master series and, perhaps, can still be made available. Deep red (almost burgandy) jigged bone inlays would also look great on this knife!

One more little addendum: If at all possible, I`d like to see no etching on the blade. It`s a personal preference thing with me. If the blade has etching, I won`t cut anything with it; and if I can`t use it, I don`t buy it. I`d love to see something like the medallion you had on the handle of the Master Series. It looks classy and doesn`t get all messed up if you use the knife.

Something to consider......

Joe,

I have been thinking, that Water Buffalo handle scales would look REALLY nice.

Have you considered placing a thread over in general to attract more attention? Now that I think of it, decide what the knife will be over here. Then place a thread over in General to drum up sales.

Count me in on the 501, BG 42 blade, uncommon handle material with a medallion. I just got in a pocket sheath with clip custom made to fit my 532 so it won't bounce around the pocket. I'll try to post a picture under a separate thread.
