Blade forums Buck Knife, want one?

A medalion and no blade etching on a 501 sounds good to me. But, what type of blade finish? ...stone washed might be kinda' nice. I'll vote for buffalo horn if nobody likes carbon fiber idea...that is, if it can even be done.

OK, I'll probably get it no matter what the model or treatment, BUT! I like the ideas that Larry and Jeff O offered: polished buffalo horn & carbon fiber. Of course, BG42 for the blade, otherwise, whatever model is most economical for Buck to do.

Hi Joe;
I vote for a 501, BG-42 blade, Nickle silver bolsters, and abalone scales or perhaps black, blue, red, or white micarta with a medallion. No pocketclips, NO SERRATIONS, No logos on the blade-put iton a smooth medallion on smooth scales.

I went over the Pete's shop, and set up a 110 with silver bolsters, buffalo horn scales, and satin BG42 blade. That thing looked SWEET!!!!! I could definitely go for that combination on the 500, 501, or 532. Oh YEAAAAH!!!!

Were getting closer now. Looks like Bg-42 is a shoe-in. Maybe a 532 or 501? I will look into the medallion idea. Small numbers may rule out that option.
Desired inlays are still kinda fuzzy. The bolster material, if the knife chosen is a 532 or 501 can be anything you want, so long as its nickle silver.

Smooth Buffalo horn does look very nice against polished N.S.
Have a great weekend folks!

All,
Since the Buck Collectors Club exhibitors at
the NKCA Cincy show next month will get a 532
with the polished water buffalo, I strongly suggest that we go with the 501. Otherwise, this BladeForums knife will not really be that special. The 501 has been done before with BG-42, but never with the polished water buffalo inlays. I agree that a medallion would really set the knife off. I would be willing to pay the extra to get a medallion. What about it, gang?
Larry

I would like to see a 501 with BG42 blade, checkered Osage Orange wood handle, medallion would be cool instead of blade etching.

A thumb stud would be really, really nice but probably a stretch.

Actually, for handles I vote for any checkered wood, or really nice genuine jigged bone. A 500 would be neat too. I'm going to anger some, but I've never cared much for either filework or the 532.

Larry,

I was unaware that the 532 with Water Buffalo scales was to be a club knife for the Cincinnati Show. I agree we need to decide on something the will be special for us. I went over to Pete's Custom Knife Shop and took a look at the Water Buffalo/nickel silver combination, it looks great! A model #500 or #501 with nickel silver bolsters and polished Water Buffalo scales is sounding like a great idea. I don't recall seeing the medallion on the Master Series, does anyone have a picture for everyone to look at?

Hmmm...my first vote was for a 110, but the mention of a 501 with BG-42 blade and buffalo horn scales does sound like a fine looking knife. I'll go with the 501 as my #1 vote and the 110 as #2. Of course, if it is the 532 then I guess I'll have to settle for one of those...

By the way, doesn't the 501 come with stainless bolsters?

Model 500 w/ bg 42 blade

[This message has been edited by alansattik (edited 09-16-2000).]

I could live with that. The only thing that I do not like about the 500 that I have is the fact the handle is tapered toward the spine. In other words, the handle is third thinner on the backside than it is at the side the blade folds into. I wish they were symmetrical like the 110 & 112. Would the BF knife be like this?

OK, my current vote

; buffalo scales, nickel-silver bolsters, model 500. But, I'd just as easily go with a 501 set up that way.

As far as the medallion, unfortunately, I come up dry on finding a picture of that.

Joe,
Am I correct in my belief that since Buck has already done the 501 with BG-42 that it is a more affordable and likely alternative than to do one in BG-42 for a model 500?

I do hope a medallion can be used as it will really set the knife apart. Also, I recommend that handle pins be omitted. With the great glues now available, handle pins should not be needed. Agree?

The #500 Duke,BG-42, Water Buffalo scales and Nickel Silver bolsters, sounds like my #1 choice for sure.

I don't like medallions, or etching in the blade. But that is a personal preference only.

The #501 would be my second choice, with the same options.

I hate to say it, because I'm not trying to be contrary, but.... I kinda like handle pins.

But, that won't stop me from buying.

Don't know how to do the "Quote" thing, but here's the paste:

532
removable/reversible pocket clip
dual thumb studs
serial numbered
BFC logo
handle material: the more unusual the better

Ditto, (though any of the 500 series would be OK) and NO to serrations!

My vote doesn't count for much as I haven't been around for long, but there it is anyway.
