I think you deserve the hostility for your name if it promotes a company that is known for idea theft.

I think people deserve hostility for anything that does not contribute to the greater benefit of society, but that's a whole other topic.

Is the largest harm to the companies that are copied that all the people that buy a $15 copy would otherwise buy an original for $150 and up, so there is a loss of revenue?

No, most people buying $15 knives don't typically buy $150 knives.

The harm is the theft of intellectual property, using someone else's designs without permission and profiting off of the work and innovation of someone else.

Imagine the arguments that went on when makers after Spyderco started putting clips on their knives.

1st-believe you can only have one account , so now that this is in tech support hopefully they can get that worked out for you.
2nd any time you go contrarian on a volatile subject you are going to be in for a hard road. Your only chance at all is to stay calm, have good facts and not resort to name calling- if you don't you loose right out of the gate. Even then you will be lucky to convince anyone to change their minds, but at least you stated your case. The majority usually has good points also, so just because they don't agree with you doesn't make them wrong.

Oh, yeah. The pocket clip. Highly innovative idea on Spyderco's part:

I have noticed a disturbing trend on BF in the last few years.

Before I get into the nitty and gritty, my main account was created in 2006 with almost 80ish 100% positive sell/trade feedback. Because I've commented and voiced my support for Ganzo knives and believe that they're good values and is not "fake" since it did not try to pass itself off as a BM. Some unethical MOD scrambled my password and changed my email address which effectively locked me out of my account.

I believe if my opinions on BF warranted a ban then that's what should have happened, but I was not banned and my account was simply made inaccessible to me by an unknown MOD who I'm sure held contrary opinions on the subject. I since joined Britishblades and found that my experience here was not unique and a few members there had their account information scrambled because they saw things differently.

Anyways, in protest I made this current account name to perfect illustrate my beliefs and opinion. But many memebers here have been openly hostile towards me simply based on my screen name. Call it bigotry, call it prejudice, call it whatever you want but I never saw any MOD warning off these members who expressed open hostility towards me simply based on my screen name when they got way off topic of the thread.

While a few members here have voice their open mindedness and supported my position but the vast majority of mindless zombies who follows the crowd seems to dominate this board and it's opinion. These same zombies has also been able to hijack all threads opposed to their established belief without recourse.

The bottom line is this, ideas have been copied through out the human history on EVERYTHING since the beginning of time and will continue until the end of time and nothing can change that. I'm against counterfeits but to place some arcane protectionist ideology against blade/handle shapes that is not patented rights or protect by any law is simply MORONIC!!!!!

Thank you so much for putting this in the Tech Support subforum. I will be sad when it moves to W&C, and I may have to renew my Gold membership for the sole purpose of checking in on it.

Here's the nitty gritty:

1. You hold an unpopular minority opinion.
2. You know it's an unpopular minority opinion.
3. You made a user name that proudly displays this unpopular opinion.
4. You complain when people prejudge you because of the user name you deliberately picked.

That seems to be it in a nutshell. In other words, you're a drama llama wandering around New York wearing a Red Sox cap and complaining that no one likes you.

It was moved to Service and Support because the mod(s) have been accused of purposefully screwing up the ops original account.
We don't need to pull these kinds of shenanigans. The ban tool does this just fine.
Also, we stand accused of not intervening on his behalf when he is or was attacked?
Either way- looks like a tech support problem right now but someone else may decide that it needs to be in another part of the forum.

I think most members get that copies clones fakes however you want to describe them .. take business from the person who deserves it and many buy them thinking they are getting a quaility knife only to find out it's cheap junk.

And this statement ...
While a few members here have voice their open mindedness and supported my position but the vast majority of mindless zombies who follows the crowd seems to dominate this board and it's opinion.

Why are the few that agree with you open minded and the many that disagree mindless zombies?

Seems to me the mindless zombies are people that can't design their own knives and so they try to steal others ideas and designs.

I'm not sure you even read what you type or you may hit back space instead of send.

OP:
Stealing designs and making cheap, shoddy knockoffs also gives unknowing people the impression that the design, concept, etc., itself is cheap and shoddy. For example, I've known of people who, because their only experience was with knockoffs of Spyderco designs, made up their minds that real Spydercos (and most other one-handed knives) are garbage knives because they weren't aware of the differences between the fakes and the real things. So yes, obvious knockoffs indeed do harm to the industry in more ways than one or two.

As far as describing yourself as a victim of bigotry or prejudice on these forums, unless you've actually experienced REAL bigotry/prejudice/discrimination in the real world, I suspect you have no idea what that really means.

BTW, I'm not 'jumping on the bandwagon' or whatever, but pointing out some facts.

Jim

This is rich.

Mods cannot change your passwords or email addresses. Only you can. There used to be a big, bold (red?) warning when registering to use a valid email address because it requires verification and nobody can change email addresses but the person who created it. I don't see that now, but I seriously doubt it's any different, but that's irrelevant since your alleged tampering predates the software change.

Moreover, no mod here would do that anyway. We had a mod here once, of his own manufacturer's subforum, who censored people's posts, became abusive, threatened to mess with another mod's family's livelihood, and generally went batshit insane. That lasted a scant few days, the censored posts were restored, his forum was shut down, and his mod status revoked (not banned, which was generous, be he FO'd anyway).

You're just one person. One I don't even remember, for whatever that's worth to you (I tend to remember the clone lovers, just sayin'). Why would you be singled out? There's PLENTY of your ilk on bladeforums, still posting, still selling/buying, still spewing the distorted virtues of stealing designs/patents/trademarks, etc. Those that actually get banned typically do so because they go on tirades about moderators and dogpiling and group-think and start insulting people and generally creating a furor that's disruptive and destructive. Hmm...

The op gets mad when people on the forum confronts him about his " new user name" a name that says hey I support theives. So op calling out mods saying they changed your password do you have proof? Since making this account have you posted in tech support about the first account? You picked a user name that gives your praise of a company that steals companies property and then whines when members here that love knife rebuttal your posts smh. If you can't figure it out maybe your first account is the one you should stick with.

You want to buy clones and counterfeits? Go on. As much as people here might want to stop you, we can't. You want to buy clones and counterfeits in peace? Don't tell actual knife enthusiasts about it. Show off your collection to people who don't know any better. Don't come onto a knife forum and throw it in everyone's face.

Also, don't sell those clones on the Exchange, as you have done.

The Forum Rules said:
As fakes and homage items are a legal gray area and obviously hurt the hobby, no fake or homage items may be sold on the Exchange. Members may not knowingly sell unlicensed knockoffs or counterfeit versions of knives (or any other goods) based upon the designs of their legitimate owner, manufacturer or custom maker. Additionally, members may not sell any knife or item known or suspected to be other than as described in terms of its lineage and authenticity.
That'll get you infracted or banned.

Brb, going to show off my girlfriend's knockoff handbag on LouisVuitton.com.

I can tell you with the current software configuration, it's not possible for a mod to in any way mess with your credentials to lock you out.
The only way we have to "lock you out" is to outright ban you.. We do not see your email address that I have found. That information is Sparks and his alone.
Not sure in the previous software-

I was a super under the old software. It was not possible for any moderator to change a user's account data. The email address of record was visible, but could not be changed. And the password was neither visible nor changeable. The only one who could change the email address was the admin, Spark. And I do not believe that even he could change the password. That had to be done by the user.

So, the OP is accusing Spark of messing with his account?
That's hilarious.

Dude, is it possible your PC got hacked? Assuming this whole thread isnt a load of crap, this sounds like a malware problem. When was the last time you ran a virus scan? And no, your iphone is not immune to spyware if that's what you use.

On the other bit, this is a private club with its own set of values. Defending clones, counterfeits, amd ripoffs around here is like going to a country club in nothing but a thong and suspenders. If you're going to do it, don't be surprised if nobody likes you.

Or is it possible dude got pissed and changed his own email and password and forgot what he did in a drunken rage of throwing Ganzos at his dartboard? ;)
