Dear BF barlow,

Though haters may hate,
And curse their fate,
Though some may gripe,
An Ebayers snipe,
I think you are keen,
Brass, bone, hemlock green,
I’ll keep you forever,
In all kinds of weather,
So please don’t you fret,
When others get upset,
Just stay sharp and cool,
A truly useful tool.

If knife slip is leather it will exacerbate the problem (development of verdigris), that’s why you don’t keep brass cartridges in a leather gun belt. Two of the finest from GEC (relevant knife content).View attachment 1767606
I do not keep them in the slips . They are only in a slip when I carry them . You do what you want to do and I will continue to do what I have seen works for me .

Thanks Harry! I’ve been much more cautious with them. I’ve learned also that if you soak them in hydrogen peroxide it removes most of the Verdigris. I never knew what it was called until I just had to look it up From the previous post.
Nathan
Yikes, hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizer which will damage the bone to a much greater extent than verdigris! Learn to love the green.E98C9322-3E75-49A5-8FB7-0D6CE486B682.jpeg

Never mind  lets have some knife content.

Can I say that I I am enjoying pics of both knives, some great examples of that white one.

I wouldn’t have posted absent a true BF 86 Barlow but the conversation had diverted to verdigris, my apologies. I am encouraging folks to post the white ones over on the Charlie Campagna SFO thread as these “sisters” of the BF 86 Barlow are kind of a SFO of his. Relevant knife content…
