Another handy place to look would be state and federal law. Unless you're law enforcement/military and can provide documentation for it, they aren't going to sell/ship you an auto across state lines (which would be a violation of federal law). This is the case even if autos are legal in both the sending and receiving state, but that point is moot since they're illegal in Illinois.

True when it comes to standard manual/assisted one-hand-opening folders, but the OP was asking about having them ship an automatic knife. In that case, dealers are much more restrictive due to the need to comply with the federal law mentioned in my earlier post.
I believe it's more of a don't ask don't tell sort of thing...we all know they sell autos online, so they have to reach their new owners somehow I've never been questioned the time or two I ordered from them and that was before I was law enforcement...
