Blade preference for camping?

Sadly, while I know exactly how you are feeling, basically what it comes down to is this.

Which one do YOU want more?

No single person here will be able to tell you which one you should go get, so you'll have to choose eventually.

The 9 is great at large tasks, makes you feel a bit like rambo/crocodile dundee and is very useful in the woods. The 14 is a great small blade, its got nice handle design, is plenty tough, and can be taken many more places without weird looks from others. I personally don't EDC either of them when in the city, but I take both camping with me.

So should I get a pimped 14 (Skystorm leather, micarta, the works) or a nine first?

I would personally get the 9 first, then get the BK16 when it's released around April.

Why? I have a 14 and like it, but unless you're specifically looking for a neck knife I think the 16 will be better.

Of course the handle of the 14 will be beefier once the zytel scales for it come out, but I'd imagine the handle of the 16 will still be better. The sheath will definitely be better.

Yeah, I would like the 14 since my edc is curently a slightly moddified cold steel kudu. But I want the nine doggonit! Testerone tells me "GET THE BK9!" logic tells me "Save your money son, you don't need knives" and somewhere between the two there is a voice saying "Get a machete and a 14, you'll be better off!!!". In other news... I think my logic is skewed.

I'm pretty sure your logic is flawed. The BK9 is worth it.
