BLADE SHOW ’2014' – Show us what you got; Please!

It has been a while since I've been around, but Charlie and I are still making knives at Twin Blades. It has been a long time since we have had a carved handle knife for sale at a knife show, but the 2014 Blade Show will find this carved handle drop point hunter on our table. It has a take down, carved Sambar stag handle, a 5 inch blade made of CPM S30V, with nickel silver guard and butt cap. It comes with one of our wrap-strap sheaths made of 9 oz leather. Check it out at table 11 I.

A sliver of nickelsilver between the guardbits.

Great looking knives John, Harry and Erik.
Erik, I particularly like that blade shape.

Thanks everyone, for sharing your knives. I'm sure there will plenty more to come.

Here's one that's pretty well done by now - about 60% - that will be getting some Scott Teaschner leather as well.
Actually, I'll have three knives with some of Scott's new work he had been creating, so I invite all to stop by and see what he's up to.

So, this one is a single twist Bowie that will get hot-blued.
It's been a while since I visited this form of twisting, but I do it in the forge at full heat.
This method creates a unique chatoyance in single twist that I have seen nowhere else.
I have made three knives this way, and each one must be held and seen to be fully appreciated.
This is not the blade, but it will appear very much like this one.
Notice the ghosty-like striations running laterally through the fine grain twist areas.
The only time I've ever seen this is on the three blades I have twisted at full heat in the forge.

So, that is what the blade will look like. It's very nice. ;)

The frame handle, which is built as stout as a tank, will also be hot-blued.
I am convinced that my frame handles will easily survive the Performance test doing a full 90 degree flex.
I actually see some frame handles built that I think were designed such that the scales are depended upon to hold a two piece frame together or some such affair like that.
That would give me nightmares.

The hardware is 1903 twisted wrought iron - also twisted at full heat in the forge.

The scales are stabilized Franquette Walnut from northern California.
I was lucky enough to get about a dozen pieces of this a few years ago from the guy who actually harvested the Cujo Walnut. That was the big walnut tree in the front yard of the movie location of the film Cujo.

This is not that tree!!

But, my material was given to me by the same guy.

As an aside, the Cujo Walnut was all bought by Gibson Guitar and they made what were know as the "Cujo Guitars" from that tree, which was more that 9 feet in diameter at the base.

The random black striations running through Franquette Walnut are extraordinary.

So, she still has a lot of work to get done before she heads to Wyoming for some sweet leather!!

Come see me at 8Q.

And it will be the clam shell at the top.

I don't make many fighters like this with display stands. I think it'll look pretty good on the table...

(p.s. that candle-holder is by Lisch - my wedding present - love it.)

Very, very nice! Love the touch of the stand with change tray. A great way to use and/or exhibit that piece.

Thanks. The base is filled with lead and sealed with epoxy, so it is very solid. I hate to have to sell it, but...

Awww, Michael, I guess we'll just hafta do something about that, and put it on MY table!

Best regards,

Bob

Let's see some more Blade Show material! It's a wonderful way to see what's new, sooner than later.

Karl, that is another favorite of yours for me. I like the mechanism that you employ. It's bound to be tank strong, but it still is very pretty. Excellent work!
