BLADE SHOW ’2014' – Show us what you got; Please!

Karl, nice work. Love the blade and that Walnut. I'm a big fan of Claro Walnut. Is it similar? Never heard of this Franquette Walnut but I'm now a fan of it too.

Claro walnut is a California varietal of American black walnut. Franquette is one of the French varietals of English/Carpathain walnut introduced to the US in the 1800's.

Here is a beautiful orange handled bowie by Don Hanson. The blade is 5400 layer damascus with a wild Hamon! And before you ask, NO this one is not joining my orange handled Hanson unfortunately.

All I've got to show so far is this walrus ivory bowie handle with scrim by Linda Karst Stone.I will be sharing a table once again this year with Gary Runyon and will have the completed bowie and a few other pieces on display.I look forward to seeing some of you there!

The birth of a Fighter:

And if I am successful, the guard material will be made of a welded "recipe" of two materials I have never seen done before.
If it fails, I will use something else.

Here is a picture of the small Rude boy flipper with stellite 6K blade, Nichols boomerang pattern Moku-ti bolsters and goldlip pearl scales. I even added a Timascus pocket clip and hand rubbed the blade.

I got that hunter etched:

The blade will get hot-blued.
A twisted wrought iron guard and a nice take-down stag handle:

That hunter is looking good karl. I am interested to see how that guard turns out. I will definitely be by to see you at your table again this year. keep up the good work.

From Lin Rhea:
Karl, that is another favorite of yours for me. I like the mechanism that you employ. It's bound to be tank strong, but it still is very pretty. Excellent work!

This is precisely the type of attitude/personality that keeps me hooked on Blade Forums. Such entirely appropriate and encouraging comments from one of the true Masters. What's not to love?

Karl, the last two knives you've made counting this one, are my favorites of yours. Just beautiful, rock solid construction! The range you are exhibiting by switching handle materials and getting it right shows a lot of skill.

Where she now stands.
And, in fact, she will progress by a few bounds from here before she's done.
The fittings are twisted wrought iron and the blade gets hot-blued!
