Blade Show '06

dave, I'll start a new thread as soon as I can once I get home.
I took quite a few pics and need to sort them and add a narrative.

right now the show just ened 2.5 hours ago and my roomie has been snoring for the last hour.:D

OK here are some pics of the take. From top to bottom: Fallkniven F1 from recent group buy, Koster WSK khukie style without the extra bells and whistles, and a David Manley ($60!!!!) with translucent green sheep horn scales. BTW, those WSK's are awesome in person. You've really got to heft them to realize how awesome they are. Great job Dan.

I saw and handled the sheephorn knife (a real bargain and neat knife) and Dan's wonderful WSK. Impressive kinfe! Did not see the third knife.

You guys are tempting me to begin collecting modern made pieces. :D  :D All I need is another addiction!

I have always found antiques more interesting, but some of these knives are certainly the heirlooms of tomorrow!

Good job Dan and some good scores, Andy!

Thanks Bro. It was a real honor meeting you and your wife, by the way. Loved the doggies too.

Sorry I missed you guys. I saw Dan for a few minutes on Friday, then he disappeared :). I'll be there next year though, make sure you stop by :).

It was great meeting you at Blade, Matt!

Got any pics of your AWARD-WINNING KNIFE?

:D :p

Dan, I've got a few pics I took. Point Seven took a photo, but I couldn't get a copy or even see the damn thing. By the time I found out the knife needed a second photo shoot it was already on it's way to it's new home...

I'm still in shock :). I've already got the wheels turning for next year. I'll be going to JS too.

that manley in the sheath looks like a wee trout peeking out of the sheath.

speaking of sheaths, you say the fallkniven sheath sucks? i guess i'll see how badly when my S1 shows up... and by the ODDEST chance, i have a order from countycomm with a firesteel or two in it coming ;)

and ooh, i hadn't seen that koster variation... i was expecting more the one with draw knife, and "saw", and all that. hopefully i'll get my hands on one of those to test drive.

yar good stuff

Dang....breathtaking! Beautiful lines...grinds...etc.

Congrats again, Matt! JS will be no sweat for you next year.

Yea B. The Fallkniven sheath has rivets holding on the belt loop. They make little indentations in the rubber handle. So does the snap. Eventually they are going to wear that rubber material out.

Yea Matt. Great Knife.!!! Wish I had met you at the show. My fault.

Man I really, really, like this one Andy!!!! Looks real similar to the Grohmann's we were talking about the other day. And just gotta love those sheep scales!!!!
I think that's one thing that draws me to Ed Fowler's knives, the sheep horn handles, as well as the wonderfully executed blades outta 52100 my favorite steel. :D

Yea the guys name is David Manley. Seriously, Yvsa, he had 10 of these for $60 each on his table. Others styles of smaller knife (~7.5" OAL and shorter) with horn handle too. Little bigger and they went to 100. Best value at the show, IMHO. If he had any with a convex grind I'd have been in love for real. You really do gotta see the sweeties Bamboo picked up too. Dang.

David Manley knives are a great value the one I picked up with (correction) wood was also $60 with a well made dark brown sheath. Of all the knives I got at the show its the one I like the best. He had the same one in bambo but by then I had hit the spending limit.

Yea I liked your little burl one too. Was good meeting and hanging out with you too.:D

Hey Guys!

Sorry for the delay in posting! I've had a hell of a time getting online. I'm currently 'borrowing' wireless service from my neighbor and you can see how well it's working.....

The show was great! It was really good to see faces from last year, and new ones this year as well.

Thanks for the compliments on the knife I picked up. I really liked it too, but maybe that goes without saying.

At the moment everything I picked up is in a box in the back of a UPS truck, somewhere along the east coast. As soon as I get 'em I'll post some pics.

Is it too early to look forward to next year?

Cheers,

~ Bamboo ~
