Ok.....it's official.

I'll be at Table 8-Q

Bruce Bump asked me to sit at his table for him - he can't make it to Blade this year. (and since I'm so far down the waiting list for my own table - yes, it's pitiful...:o.....maybe next year? - I'll take anything I can get. :D)

So.....this year you'll be able to find me at Bruce's table peddling a few of his wares and perhaps, a few of mine. ;)

Oh...and I've got 5 Free VIP passes for anyone attending the show.

2 requirements - attend the Khuk dinner on Friday Night, and drop by my table sometime Friday/Saturday.

I will be there, and have a small gathering planned for some martial artist from around the country meeting that same weekend. The meeting last year was well attended but most people have said the blade show was the real highlite.
One of the events at the gathering is a cutting party. Lots of swords and such, I will have a few Khuks to show some "other" means of cutting.

See you there. :) I just took Spyderco's offer for VIP passes, otherwise I'd be begging for one of yours. Let me know where dinner is at when you guys decide.

What's the plan for Friday dinner? Is the HI gang going to Fogo's. If not, I might have to join the Busse hogs.

Add my vote to yours for Fogo's.

4 passes still hanging around...if I offer them up to the general public, they'll evaporate in a few seconds....I was hoping to give H.I. crowd preference. We'll give it the weekend and if they're still here...off to General.

My vote is that since Dan is buying he should get to pick the place.....

Well, I just reserved a room about a mile away from the gallery. Time to look up some flight information ... What time is dinner? ;)

Definately want some pics from this. Both to see the forumites and experience Blade Show. Too far from me so I've never been. :(

John, the dates are 3-5 June, and if all goes well tomorrow I will definitely be driving.

Dan, I should be able to make it, this year!

And there's enough time for me to beg off another Saturday w/out getting my boss too upset...

Just bought the plane ticket, so I guess its official.

Looking forward to meeting up with any and all who can get there.

can anyone recomend a hotel? Is there a suite type hotel close by?

Azis, I just found a hotel on Orbitz 3 miles from the show for $66 a night. Just run a search on any of the hotel search sites for hotels near the Galleria's address:

2450 Galleria Parkway
Atlanta, GA 30339

I got a room at the Residence Inn (Residence something anyway, Inn/Hotel/etc). They gave me a suite w/kitchen for $79/night. They are just a mile away from the convention center. Number is 770-433-8877. Their address is 2771 Cumberland Blvd.

Also, Dan suggested www.bladeshow.com for general info.

I get in around 2pm on Friday, so would definitely love to meet up for dinner & whatever. I'm leaning towards renting a car, but if anyone has any other suggestions? I have no idea how Atlanta is to navigate without one ...?

Any one know how knife prices tend to be at shows like this?

Is it easy to get good deals, or do you pay through the nose simply because it is the blade show?

Thanks,

~ b

It's best if you know the prices before Blade. Of course with custom knives you can only know the price range.

At the show tho you get to handle the knives and see how the fit and finish is. You also get to talk with the makers...maybe commision a knife if you want.
With the manufacturers you get ot see and handle the just released knives and a prototype or two.

Here's my knife/gun show strategy: take only as much money as you are willing to spend - in cash. Leave your check book and credit cards in the hotel safe. Look the show over carefully the first day, talk to exhibitors you are interested in, get to know them. Don't jump at anything, unless you are absolutely sure you can't live without it. Impulse buying is not usually good. The next day, go around again and look for the pieces that are within your budget, and are underpriced for their value. Never go over your pre-established budget. Unless, of course, you see something insanely cool. :D It's all about discipline, guys.
Don't bother to thank me. I know you all appreciate my insight. :p
