Blade Show 2012

It was so great to chat with some of the makers from the forums here like Peter R., J. Grimsmo, and Clark.

Yup..Jake Hoback as well. I've exchanged emails with him a few dozen times, really nice to finally meet and speak with him in person. Really nice guy, super down to earth.

Couple cheap shots at us here, by a industry guy even...but that's ok, we were happy with the show, and most seemed pleased with our offerings.

Spyderco has some killer prototypes.

Didn't like the Rj Martin designed ZT that much

Is that the one with the cf inlay and the flipper? What's the street price on that one?

BTW, thanks for posting all those pics!!

I thoroughly enjoyed your booth Mr. T, second year in a row. Everyone was super friendly and congrats on the awards
Cool, glad you enjoyed it. Much appreciated on the congrats. A ton of work goes into this show, and we're quite pleased to be in front of our customers for this special event.

..and that's how it should be, really shows that you guys enjoy what you do, and it gets everyone excited about your products.

Some people, like myself, drive down for HOURS(10 for me), and the last thing we want are attitudes and grumpy faces

Will the 0888 be in regular production? I really like that modern design, but my to buy knife list is already filled for this year, so I`d like to pick eihter the 0888 or the 0777 up next year.

I was told limited. They're running two steels and 250 pieces of each. Maxamet and s110v

its only 2 hour drive for me but i too, work for a dumbass company....

Yeah I hear you, so many of them these days, bad management usually....

All I can say is if the economy gets better and the job market opens up and I am gone....... Out the door.....

There is always next year ... :( Hopefully, the economy will improve so people stuck at employers with bad management can move to someplace better.

I missed last year myself but, I did manage to make it to Blade this year on Saturday around noon local time! :)

I didn't take any pictures but, I saw some really nice knives. Around 4PM Saturday I was surprised to see some nice knives at Red St. Cyr's table. They were relatively plain finished with the outstanding quality one would expect from a Master Smith. What really surprised me were the prices on the two large fixed blades of less then $1,000. If things were a little better for me, I would have picked one of those up for a user. All three knives on his table were outstanding quality for an outsandingly attractive price and were hard to pass up ...

I settled for a real nice "production" slipjoint and a large economy priced Gyuto. I scored a few "trinkets" as well with an Exotac hard anodized black XL match case, orange regular sized one, and a fire striker along with a gaggle of Lansky things (nice quality cheap small lockbacks, a ceramic rod "eraser", and sharpener), and a nice "square" from the Gerstner booth.

How was show attendance this year compared to years past?

It seemed like this show had fewer tables this year then years past when I was able to make it. It almost seemed a little "gun show" to me with the "prepper/tactical" end of the world folks selling freeze dried food and similar survival things. :(

Show attendance seemed to be lower as well. I guess that's not too surprising with the shaky economy though. Most people probably don't have as much disposable money with job uncertainties. If I was a little more confident, Red St. Cyr would have had one less knife on his table when the show closed Saturday.

Yeah a lot of us are putting what used to be our play money into our gas tanks instead of buying other stuff. :(

At 15 MPG and $70+ a week in gas these days.

Odd. I played with a production one at their booth yesterday at Blade and was told they were readying to ship.

Stainz

Jenn from ZT said in about a month...I said this in the kershaw/ZT forum, she's one pretty lady..hard to focus on the knives. I was like :p the whole time she was talking to me

Already made plans for next year again..we need a big group from VA to get in on the lotteries like some d-bag and his group did..completely monopolized some of the lotteries and apparently pulled the same $hit last year

Haha, I hear ya. Not opposed to being part of any of the lotteries, but I also don't want to be part of the next "d-bag" group. If we can organize a VA group trip, I'm in! I know a few others locally that may want to go as well. I think a year is enough notice, no? :D
