Blade show 2020

It has been posted that Cobb Galleria is 'Closed Until Further Notice'....
Yes it has, but if you go to their calendar it still shows the Blade Show scheduled for 5-7 June...there are probably some serious negotiations going on...

Wishful thinking....it is impossible for anyone traveling from abroad to make it here.

Fixed it for you Dudley.:D

I already cancelled my hotel reservation 2 weeks as our lockdown began. Almost all international airlines are shut down and even if I could find a flight I would have to spend 2 weeks in quarantine when I enter the US and a further 2 weeks in quarantine when I return home. Not to mention the inherent danger of flying at this time.
It's the same for almost every country that has international visitors to Blade.

Besides which do you want to walk around a hot humid indoor environment with thousands of people from all over the place not knowing who is safe to stand next to?? Not me!

Dare I say that some of our greatest makers, collectors and aficionados are over 65 and not in the greatest of health. Attending Blade could be fatal!

All of the above are arguments for postponement or cancellation for 2020.

So the venue is closed, blade still isn't saying anything beyond changing their wording to remove as scheduled, their instagram account is making no mentions of whats going on(and deleting anyone's comments asking about it btw) AND they are still selling tickets saying its going on as scheduled.. All the while still sitting on all of the attendees money....

Are these guys shady or just incompetent? Cause this is not how any other trade shows or orgs are handling this situation.

there's probably something going on with cancelling, maybe a waiting game to see who cancels first. If Blade cancels, are they eligible for compensation? If Cobb cancels, are they on the hook for compensation? If it were up to me, I'd rather Blade come out of this more financially ahead than Cobb

That is probably likely, and I get that part. but how many thousands of makers, dealers, and regular attendee folks are they throwing under the bus and screwing over in this game of chicken? This is not how an organization/company i would ever want to support should be behaving. So many people if had been given more notice could of cancelled before late cancelling fees kick in on flights, hotels, car rentals etc. I mean who in their right mind would want to support or even have confidence in Blade or Cobb in 2021 after how they are treating this? there have been makers and dealers on blades facebook page for over a month asking for clarification on if they should plan on attending still, with crickets from Blade. Yet blade has time to make smiley emoji replies to people calling this pandemic "media hype" or "just the flu" in the same comment threads....

HOT OFF OF THE PRESSES!!!!!!!!

Email from The Blade Show Crew a couple of hours ago...

"Thank you for your email. We are in the process of looking at new date options later this summer that just became available to us last Friday night. We can say with certainty that the BLADE Show will not take place on its regularly scheduled dates. The minute we have updated information, we will immediately send it out to all our exhibitors and attendees."

Priceless, they are looking at new date options that just became available. e.g., Cobb is giving them the pick of the litter for dates that other events cancelled on.. dates that also won't work out. Stalling is right i4Marc, they doin anything they can now to not give refunds. I would put money on within a few more weeks they cancel 2020 Blade, and announce that everyones money is being kept for 2021 bladeshow tables, tickets, etc

No email to the attendees, website still counting down the days until June 6th, still selling tickets...wtf:mad:

I suspect this is gonna be a lose/lose situation for Blade...no matter what they do they are going to piss a bunch of folks off...EXCEPT, if they just cancel and refund everyone’s money...it’s become fairly apparent, though, that that’s not one of their options...I think you can expect participation by exhibitors and attendance to be seriously eroded not just this year but in years to come...I know this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I cancelled out the 18th of February so I am not out any money...I can only imagine how folks feel who are going to lose hundreds or thousands of dollars...just my 2 cents...

Yup, I'm out...I anticipate these dates getting pushed as well.

This is how a resurgence happens...there's absolutely no way to avoid exposure at something like this and that's just too soon, not to mention that international travel will still be screwed so attendance will be lackluster at best.

They're being positive, certainly nothing wrong with that. We could use more of that type of attitude at this point.
In another 60 days they can take another look.
